Let’s see, a turkey bought a leopard because it didn’t like the kurds...?
OK.
Ruh roh!
The Tiger 2 tank looked pretty awesome too. But it broke down often, drank too much fuel (and leaked it too) and was vulnerable from behind.
Somehow, I get the weird idea that the whole intent of this so-called ‘war’ in Ukraine is just to destroy as much expensive hardware as possible so they will have to be replaced with newer, more expensive hardware............
We just watched Victor Davis Hanson’s Hillsdale College class on WWII. In it he spoke of the many shortcomings of tanks in WWII. While a competent tactical leader can make up for these difficulties, tanks have a great many limitations. Bottom line, they ain’t what people think.
It’s unlikely these complex vehicles with untrained crews will turn the tide.
“Syrian Terrorists”
The source is stills from an ISIS video? I’m skeptical for that reason. Why not just post the video?
Hey, I have this great idea. We could form an alliance, let’s call it the Triple Entente, to counter Turkey. That will work out just dandy.
Turkey runs Leopard 1A3s upgraded in 2002 & Leopard 2A4s upgraded in 2021
In other words, two NATO member nations are at war with each other.
Any tank can be destroyed, but Turks were completely incompetent in their use. Leopard 2 is an excellent tank.
After the first hit, the Turkish crews, who were supposed to be experienced and well-trained, froze in fear and did nothing to stop the second missile from hitting them. The only thing they did was panic and try to cover away from enemy fire, but they seem to forgot to save their tanks.
In almost all cases, there was no suppressive fire from the other tanks or armored vehicles, and they didn’t even try to remove the Leopard-2A4 tanks or turn on the smoke screens. The Turkish tanks that had not been struck did not return a single shot, as a result of which they were bombarded with anti-tank missiles one after another.
