WASHINGTON (AP) — At least three presidents. A vice president, a secretary of state, an attorney general. The mishandling of classified documents is not a problem unique to President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump.
It’s been a problem off and on for decades, from presidents to Cabinet members and staff across multiple administrations stretching as far back as Jimmy Carter. The issue has taken on greater significance since Trump willfully retained classified material at his Florida estate, prompting the unprecedented FBI seizure of records last year.
It turns out former officials from all levels of government discover they are in possession of classified material and turn them over to the authorities at least several times a year, according to a person familiar with the matter who spoke on the condition of anonymity due to the sensitive nature of classified documents.
Current and former officials involved in the handling of classified information say that while there are clear policies for how such information should be reviewed and stored, those policies are sometimes pushed aside at the highest levels. Teams of national security officials, secretaries and military aides who share responsibility for keeping top-level executives informed — and the executives themselves — may bend the rules for convenience, expediency or sometimes due to carelessness.
While Trump intended to keep the documents — he’s argued, in apparent disregard of the Presidential Records Act, that they were his personal property — he was hardly the first president to mishandle classified information.
Former President Jimmy Carter found classified materials at his home in Plains, Georgia, on at least one occasion and returned them to the National Archives, according to the same person who spoke of regular occurrences of mishandled documents. The person did not provide details on the timing of the discovery.

Everybody does it... So I guess Biden and Trump can’t be charged or convicted of anything... Darn it!
I was really hoping that they would charge Trump with something, so he could have that public forum and expose the Justice Department as being a political tool for the Democrat party.
Now that won’t happen and all those people who’ve been gnashing their teeth at the prospect of Trump being convicted of some dastardly crime, will need to settle down and realize that they were duped by the Democrats to get their votes.
Suddenly everybody does it....This is ALL to save Biden’s backside.
Notice ‘everybody’ ‘mishandled’ the documents. I doubt that.
Trump has documents. It’s a crime.
Biden has documents. Now it’s a conundrum.
I wonder how long it took for the AP to come up with the word “conundrum”. Probably half of a day, at least.
Hell, lets say it goes all the way back to George Washington. Democrats need as much cover as they can FABRICATE!!!!

Here is what I think the Democrat plan was :
The deep-sate doesn’t like Biden very much, it sees Biden as a liability for Democrats future.
So in order to get him, without making it look too obvious that the effort comes directly from the deep-state / Democrats, they HAD to first make a public show by raiding Trump’s Mar-a-Lago. That made them look anti-Trump in a big way, but it also secretly gave them the excuse for later going against Biden for the same thing. The deep-state can say that they treat every party in a “fair way”.
That’s why Biden’s own aids... (actually deep-state aids) turned against him while being seen as “neutral”.

Now that the dems have been caught with their hands in the cookie jar, it’s suddenly not such a big issue!
Well, I know one thing. I’m one of those few Americans who don’t have any classified documents in my garage or in my wife’s underwear drawers.
It is a “conundrum” when anyone other than Trump maintains possession of classified records. When Trump does it, even though he “argued” the records were his personal property, the only remedy is to send armed agents to riffle through Melania’s personal items and to charge Trump with a crime. That Trump “argued” the records were his suggests no effort to conceal them, or to possession them in a reckless or grossly negligent manner. Rather, Trump was upfront about what he had and why he believed he should keep them. Biden, not so much. He tucked them away in boxes from D.C.’s Chinatown to Wilmington.
So it’s been going on forever. I think they’re throwing in the towel on this particular method of going after Trump.
