Deliveries would be part of deal to enable provision of German-built Leopards
The Biden administration is leaning toward sending a significant number of Abrams M1 tanks to Ukraine and an announcement of the deliveries could come this week, U.S. officials said.
The announcement would be part of a broader diplomatic understanding with Germany in which Berlin would agree to send a smaller number of its own Leopard 2 tanks and would also approve the delivery of more of the German-made tanks by Poland and other nations. It would settle a trans-Atlantic disagreement over the tanks that had threatened to open fissures as the war drags into the end of its first year.

The Democrat Party motto: “Anything to hurt America.”
The tallybunnies have several for sale
Unless American maintenance and logistics personnel are provided....
The war drags on ???
Hell, it hasn’t even started yet!
Wait till year three or four.
The Zalinsky cabal will sell it’s targeting computers to China.

A couple of thoughts, given I am not a military tank expert.
Even if you dropped 1000 tanks or some other number of tanks into Ukraine today, it would take months to become competent in mobile tank warfare.
The parts, fuel and ammunition would also need to be delivered, plus several months of training before they can be used.
Throw in potential German and British tanks into the mix and I don’t see how Ukraine could possibly handle that mix of equipment, unless US personnel were manning those tanks.
Russia just might start attacking the supplier of arms used against their forces. It would be a tactical target.
Because the Ukrainians absolutely have the LogTail to support the incredibly complex and unique powerpack that the M1 uses, not to mention the massive supply of fuel they require, and the tanker trucks to carry that fuel out to the tanks. Plus, the M1 is stupid-heavy, and requires specialized recovery vehicles when they get stuck or break down. This is an idiotic idea from square one, and cannot possibly work. The only conceivable purpose for this is to put the Ukrainians in the position of having to ask for our help to operate these tanks, and thus drag us into their pointless war.
“Wait till year three or four.”
I’ve predicted a 10 year war.
Add Neo-Conservative warmongers to the mix and you will have it complete.
Lindsey Graham was in Ukraine over the week along with a number of Democratic Senators yelling to the media how Ukraine desperately needed modern battle tanks to drive Russia completely out of Ukraine.
“the war drags into the end of its first year...”
*************
Its not exactly dragging. The escalation seems to be pretty steadily upwards to me. Year two is shaping up to be an even more ‘kinetic’ one.
We are at the point where a mistake, error or miscalculation could quickly spiral things out of control. All the ingredients are there for a conflagration. Only takes a spark.
“Russia just might start attacking the supplier of arms used against their forces.”
Attack them with what?
RuZZia is being demilitarized. RuZZia is its weakest since the fall of the USSR. RuZZia can’t even conquer Ukraine. How could they attack anyone else? Nonsense.
At first glance I saw Abrams and thought we were sending Stacey Abrams over there.
I *love* that.
I *love* that.
*&^%$ Biden
They won’t be able to fuel these near the front lines.
It’s stupid & will make America look bad.
