The dramatic fight for Soledar, part of the Battle of Bakhmut, is over — although Ukraine's leadership is still reluctant to acknowledge the loss.
As a result of a localized offensive operation in January, Russian forces managed to gnaw through Ukrainian defenses and, after fierce urban fighting, seize what's left of the industrial town of 10,000.
Although fighting in the area continues, The Kyiv Independent sources, as well as international monitors, all fully agree Ukraine doesn’t control the town.
It's the first noticeable Russian success since their forces captured Sievierodonetsk and Lysychansk after fierce fighting in June and July.

By now they have already set up the next line of defense, yes?
But the important thing is: Ukraine is winning. [/s]
“By now they have already set up the next line of defense, yes?”
it’s already there.
Ukraine has been building multiple layers of defense in Eastern provinces since 2014. And have been pre positioning material too.
It will be an entire chapter in the historic book of war.
The lads that took Soledar are headed toward Seversk for their next siege

The real important thing is the Russians are
being ground down. I don’t care who wins
I just want Russia to be weaker and less likely to pull this crap again, ever.
“I just want Russia to be weaker and less likely to pull this crap again, ever.”
The only thing about it that affected your real interests as an American, is the West’s economic reaction...and depletion of military material.
Why would you care if Russia did it again?

Kiev hasn’t claimed control over all of Soledar since early in the war. They are still fighting in the center city, Russian claims to the contrary.
But the important thing is: Ukraine is winning. [/s]

…and Germany is refusing to send 20 something of their Leopards, which if they do, half won’t make it out of Lviv, but given that, the huge fuel tanker, Maintenance groups, and ammo train convoy will be further reduced before traveling thousands of kilometers to the Ukies Eastern Front. I am sure Vlad will dispatch those German tanks like they did in WW2.
Those Ukies are acting like the WW2 Nazis more everyday, complete mobilization of all their 18-60 year old male population, outlawing any Russian news, closing down of churches,…what next the Zelensky ( Hitler) youth?
The last line of defense in Donetsk is the Kostiantynivka-Kramatorsk-Slavyansk axis.
Something will fill that void, and it won't be us. If history has taught us anything, is that one baddie is always replaced with another.
Yet many Ukie-philes on this forum continue to think with their puddle deep passions and the realists among us who see the plainly obvious will continue to be smeared.
Ukes are now admitting their negotiations last March were, like in Minsk, a subterfuge to yet again ‘buy more time’ and are openly declaring a terrorist/irregular insurgency against the russkies when they finally do surrender. Really, really not smart. They leave no other rational alternative for the russkies other than complete annihilation of the Uke military and full occupation of Uke-land*.
*Russkies retreating to 2/24/22 lines, paying reparations, overthrowing Putin are all bizarro-world fantasies. Might as well bet your retirement on lottery tickets.
“Why would you care if Russia did it again?”
Why did we give a shit when the Japanese bombed
our Territory? It wasn’t even a state then.
If Y’all don’t deal with bullies,
you get fuked. Just like a jail house punk.
And I really want a pony!
The Russian military has grown by 500,000 and now has dozens of battle hardened Brigades, a Wagner Mercenary forces second to none who are experts at urban combat and battle tested highly effective weapons systems on par or above NATO system in this type of slugfest.
“I don’t care who wins. I just want Russia to be weaker and less likely to pull this crap again, ever.”
Didn’t realize Uke-land was a territory of USA.
also, bet you had nothing to say when US/NATO launched unilateral wars on Syria, Iraq, Afgan, Serbia, Lybia......right?
Ditto. NATO gains so much from this, in a Machiavellian sort of way.
“Why would you care if Russia did it again?”
lolsz... Your sappy unrequited love affair with Bad Vlad and Russia.
So you’d support total war with the CCP when they eventually invade Taiwan?
Ukraine will be marching on the Kremlin any day now.
