he U.S. and allied countries around the world are sending armored vehicles, advanced air defenses and billions of dollars in other weapons to Ukraine in hopes of quickly bolstering its forces ahead of a potential Russian offensive later this year.
The latest tranche of American aid was unveiled Thursday, including a brigade's worth of armored Stryker vehicles, and was valued at $2.5 billion -- following a $3 billion package with Bradley Fighting Vehicles on Jan. 6. Defense leaders from about 50 countries huddled at Ramstein Air Base in Germany on Friday to discuss the aid and the path forward.
"Russia is regrouping, recruiting, and trying to re-equip," Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, who attended with Joint Chiefs Chairman Gen. Mark Milley, told the gathering, according to a transcript of his speech. "This is not a moment to slow down. It's a time to dig deeper."
The 11-month-old war may be approaching a crucial inflection point as intelligence points to Russia working and planning to rebuild its military and national industrial base -- essentially putting what President Vladimir Putin has called a special military operation onto a true war footing.

It appears to me to be enough for a single Division of infantry. Without tanks or helicopters. A substantial portion of which is man-portable, advanced, short range weapons.
As I understand it, Russia is preparing at least 10 armored divisions for their next run at this. Outside predictions say 20 divisions.
IF the Russian strength reports are true, I don't see that the west gave Ukraine enough to survive.
That is my impression also, equipment is on its way, training is just starting, and future shipments are planned, so far all stuff is for the near future but not for now.
I know there is some new stuff arriving, but not the huge amounts needed and that will be there later.
Are enough members of the Ukrainian military trained to use all that equipment?
Under the leadership of Demented Joe and the perfumed generals of NATO this mess should be over shortly.
man-portable and easy to sell to....African warlords??
I thought Russia was out of equipment 9 months ago? Out of men 6 months ago...running down terrified guys in the street to capture and force them into service?
NOTHING about this whole deal makes ANY sense other than corruption, kickbacks, getting rid of old equipment to make a need for new, and creatinga BUNCH more little tyrants with new weapons around the globe.
Not very much stuff considering the size of the overall theater.
Basically it is clearing out some old inventory and saying they did something.
no...but they have 3.7 days to learn how to drive em PLUS function as groups with group tactics.
WTH is going on over there.
“...ahead of Expected Russian Offensive”
FAKE NEWS!!! Russia has been out of weapons 25 times since March, 2022 - It simply is NOT possible for them to launch an offensive*.
*but if they do, we’ll deny ever saying the above.
my understanding is 70,000 Ukrainian troops with armored equipment are training in Europe and will be ready by May.
A friend with military experience in dealing with Russia seems to believe that will have a dramatic impact, even if Russia tries to raise 500,000 new troops.
If you know a damn thing about the actual military situation, share it.
Tiresome reading a lot of uninformed ranting.
Oh you didn’t see Russia driven back by offensives which already happened?
While you and the other frauds ranted that all the Ukrainian troops were dying.
Meanwhile Russia needs 700,000 more troops.
Wow. I know during WWII we built a liberty ship in 10 days so 3.7 days seems enough time to learn how to hold back what a 1000 Russian tanks. /s
“We” never said the above.
Do you have any actual information to discuss, because you just act as a fanatic propagandist.
So you dopes come up with something about 3.7 days and then play with yourselves.
As mentioned above, 70,000 Ukrainian troops have been training as mechanized divisions in Europe and will be ready to enter the war by May.
That’s not 3.7 days.
There is a lot of training taking place in America and in Europe, who knows if it is enough and will reach the field in time.
Biden has been holding up the MiGs that Trump wants Ukraine to get, but Slovakia is trying to bypass Biden.
Ukrainian pilots are doing training on various American-made aircraft, but who knows?
Do you have a reference link for the 70,000?
“Meanwhile Russia needs 700,000 more troops.”
Link please.
I responded to a post that said 3.7 days.
““We” never said the above.”
I was AGREEING with you guys - clearly the Russians are a Paper Tiger...until they’re not.
Russia plays well at home, not on the road.
