Iconic musician David Crosby has died at the age of 81, DailyMail.com has confirmed.
The member of the bands the Byrds and Crosby, Stills & Nash died Thursday 'after a long illness,' his wife Jan Dance told Variety.
'It is with great sadness after a long illness, that our beloved David (Croz) Crosby has passed away,' she said in the statement. 'He was lovingly surrounded by his wife and soulmate Jan and son Django. Although he is no longer here with us, his humanity and kind soul will continue to guide and inspire us.'

The "deaths in threes" rule is gonna need some expansion. We're entering a period where a lot of our musical generation (60's, 70's) are kicking the bucket.
The Keith Richards "Hey Mick look who I outlived this week" meme is gonna get a lot of workout.
It's a time of sadness, but also appreciation. We had the best musical decades in history.
Is the headline, ‘Crosby is now Still and Past’
supposed to be a play on ‘Stills and Nash’?
....Day Job!
Didn’t know Jeff Beck died. “People Get Ready” showed him at his best on guitar and Rod Stewart at his best vocally. Great song!
That’s a shame. I came of age listening to David Crosby.
RIP.
He could be a royal ass h.
But he sure could sing!
I especially liked his harmonies with Graham Nash.
Curtis Mayfield wrote “People get Ready”
Crosby lived until 81 years of age which is surprising in light of his drug addictions.

Nice live version of “Wooden Ships” performed in 1977.
Apropo comments by Crosby (pertaining to what is left behind in life) in the short interview leading into the song.
CSNY inspired the following “news” item on SNL Weekend Update. Jane Curtin:”Comedian Bill Cosby, opera star Beverly Sills, country singer Johnny Cash and newscaster Connie Chung are starting a group but they need a name. If you have a suggestion, write to “Cosby, Sills, Cash and Chung” c/o Weekend Update”
Lisa barely made a smudge on the music scene
Jeff Beck, Robbie Bachman and Dave Crosby - that’s the three
Most people that lived like David Crosby, didn’t make it out of their 20’s or the 1960’s.
Crosby was in the Byrds which I liked. He got booted for spouting off on stage too often, about who killed Kennedy conspiracy theories......CSNY was boring cutesie pie twaddle. Never liked them.
Though I liked his tune, “Almost Cut My Hair”. That was funny.
I didn’t either. Especially tragic since bacterial meningitis is treatable and isn’t necessarily age related. At least Stewart just had another year. :) “People Get Ready” is literally a match made in heaven.
The most amazing aspect is that he actually survived until 81.
I grew up in the era of Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young. Many of the bands and musicians of that era were the blind leading the blind. Feelings, fornication, partying, rebellion, anti-Christianity and anti-America pretty much sums up much of that era. Sounds similar to today.
The blind leading the blind! Can you say the WEF.
Truth is found in one place, it's name is Jesus, His Word and the Holy Spirit!
My faith and trust is in this: "I am the way, the truth and the life, NO MAN comes to the Father, but through Me." - Jesus
Life is full of choices and choices have consequences. If I had followed the message and way of reprobate bands growing up, I'd likely be dead, in prison, in an institution and/or addicted to something bad. I thank God for Jesus's grace and Word in my life! This evil world is coming to an end and Christ's kingdom will fully come. We ignore this reality, promise if you will, to our peril. We will all die. Some may expect to enter heaven with our own righteousness or good works or keeping the Law of Moses, which no man can keep - some do not believe in life after death - some put their trust and faith in Christ paying for their sins through His sacrifice, His blood.
Choices have consequences. My prayer is that all men and women come to the knowledge of Christ!
Pretty much sums it up.
If Keith ever does kick the bucket, the Internet is going to explode.
