Alec's first duty is to check the chambers. He should have pulled each shell...see that it rattled and replace it. The same with the party who handed it off.
Either one could have slipped in a real shell.
The armorer...sorry....I believe her. Her father was top of the line. She wouldn't disgrace him for all the fame or money in the world. I don't think she should be charged UNLESS her prints are on the casing that killed the lady.

Absolutely-
baldwin broke 17 specific onset rules of gun safety- (I had the chart at one time which i posted in previous articles when the incident/shooting first happened- i can’t find it now)
there is no way he can blame this on anyone else and walk away a free man- while others can share in the guilt, he personally was responsible for ALL gun safety protocols since he was the last one with the guns and should have gone over all the safety rules himself
The golden rule- Every gun is loaded whether you think they are or not
Another rule is never rely on what others tell you about a gun- check it yourself, always.
The person who the gun is pointed at should check the gun themselves as well-
there are no do-overs! Guns are not toys- Even prop guns! blanks can also kill- depending on the type- The one pointing the gun MUST know what they are pointing and what is in the gun they are pointing- they are the final safety check. They can’t just take someone else’s word for it like Alec is trying to do while claiming innocence!
The armorer was an affirmative action boob.
“Gutierrez upset both Cage and other crew members on the Montana production by failing to follow basic gun safety protocols like announcing the arrival and usage of weapons onto the set.”
“”The armorer on “Rust” got an earful from one Nicolas Cage when she was working on his movie earlier this year — and it doesn’t sound like he was confident in her abilities either.”’
“this after she apparently fired off weapons around the crew without warning, not once but TWICE.”
“According to The Wrap, the 24-year-old rookie was allegedly complained about a lot ... not just by Cage, but by other seasoned people who noticed — she was out of her element.”
“A key grip on ‘TOW’ claims Cage wasn’t the only one who was frustrated — he apparently told the assistant director the young armorer had to go, as he felt she was slipping up.”
