Are even the circuit breakers controlled by software?
Send a few Georgia Tech boys up there for a day or two and the problem’s solved.
Automation isn’t for everything.
I’m not a bit surprised. Speaking as a long-time public school teacher (now retired), I can tell you this. The average school janitor has 100 times more common sense than the average school administrator.
Chinese sourced parts on backorder...oh my!
Local Walmart cannot control the thermostat, it is set by someone in Minneapolis.
They called in the local electrician to figure that out.
LIGHT SWITCHES DON'T NEED SOFTWARE!!!!!!
Feckin' morons!
This is what happens when all your hires are based upon which diversity box they check. I’m sure my husband could get those lights off within 30 minutes of walking into the building. Within a couple of hours, he could install a temporary fix that would allow an override of whatever system is currently in place so that anyone could turn the lights on or off with a flip of a switch.
Paul Mustone, president of the Reflex Lighting Group, said the parts they need to replace the system at the school have finally arrived from the factory in China and they expect to do the installation over the February break.
No.
No, you haven't.
You want 'em turned off? I can get the damn things turned off! You may not like my methods, but you'll like my results!
Not to mention our teachers salaries and benefits are bankrupting local taxpayers. But hey, it's a government school what do you expect.
Just goes to show that government schools don’t get anything right. I wonder if their lighting system ever broke even. That is the additional cost over a traditional lighting was surpassed by lower electricity bills. Obviously it hasn’t given the current situation, but I bet there was not an original cost analysis or if there was, the cost analysis didn’t show a saving or return within a reasonable time, i.e., five to seven years.
“And we have been doing everything we can to get this problem solved.”
Obviously not. Nobody thought to flip the breaker at night and then flip it back in the morning?
can’t find the breaker panel???
I’m sorry to say it - but they are public-school educators:
They are simply too stupid and bureaucratic to do it.
Something just ain’t right about this story....
If people give software this level of control over things that people need and use, then this kind of thing will happen. Remember Hal in 2001? It was given that control and we saw what happened.
Having observed people for some time, I predict that major aspects of human life will be put under the total control of programs. The programs will be called AI so as to impress the folks and make them think that it is intelligent and nothing can go wrong.
Having had my hands in quite a few programs, I know that the program does what the program code tells it to do, not what you want it to do. The results can be unpredictable.
For the school: cut the power to the school. Install switches. Turn on the power. Fire dumb people who have total faith in software.
Pull the meter.
SNAFU....the entire corrupt govt. is F’ed up.
