Ukraine will reclaim Crimea, President Volodymyr Zelensky has vowed, calling the peninsular annexed by Russia in 2014 'our land' in an address on Thursday.

Speaking in Davos, Ukraine's wartime leader also criticised hesitation by Germany about supplying its modern Leopard tanks, with reports saying Berlin will only provide them if the US offers its Abrams tanks as well.

The US has said it is not 'there yet'.

I would not bet against Russia using tactical nukes if Ukraine tries to cross the Isthmus of Perekop. Russia has lost hundreds of thousands of men defending Crimea during the Crimea War and World War II. Zelensky's bluster is closing the door on any negotiated settlement. The Weat should tell Zelensky to stop talking about conquering the Crimea; which was given to the Ukraine Soviet Socialistic Republic on a whim by Khruschev. Perhaps Poland should demand Ukraine give back Galicia containing Lemberg/Lwow/Lvov/Lviv.

It was a terrible plan from the start. The United States and NATO wanted war with Russia, but had no idea how to conduct the war, let alone finish the war. Just this week, the US asked Israel for 300,000 rounds of 155mm ammo and the UK asked Jordan for 400 Challenger 2 tanks. Both will say no. Great planning!

The idea of fighting an anti-septic war reminds me of the old Star Trek episode where a society decided to fight a war without actually fighting a war. They ran computer simulations to identify where bomb strikes would occur and then people in that area who would have been killed had to report in to be terminated.

This war had been going on for hundreds of years because there was no carnage and destruction. Capt Kirk and crew destroyed the people incinerators (or whatever they were called) and forced the two sides back into a real war.

Neither wanted the actual carnage so they met and had a truce. Ah the good ol' days...
