Belarusian troops are highly likely to join the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February 2023, the chief editor of the Belarusian independent news media Charter-97 Natalya Radina said in her interview with UNIAN, referring to the insider information within the Armed Forces of Belarus.
There are several scenarios under which Belarusian troops may be deployed to Ukraine, Radina claimed, referring to an anonymous source in the Belarusian army. First of all, the army of Belarus may take part in the Russian invasion of Ukraine to distract Ukrainian forces from other areas, where Russia plans to launch offensive operations. Secondly, Belarusian forces may invade Ukraine from Russian territory. Finally, the Belarusian army may join the Russian offensive in Zaporizhzhia Oblast in southeastern Ukraine, according to Radina.

“Which means they won’t.”
They’d be nuts to join in this fight.
I think this is a bluff to get Ukraine to redeploy some of its assets.
“Lukashenko is buying time and sitting it out, running training exercises, like Franco in WWII.”
Good comparison.
Russia might attack from Belarus but that doesn’t mean Belarus will. They haven’t so far. And if they do then they’ll own a piece of the reparations bill after this ends.
Drop a Nuke on Belarus.
They are already salted within the Russian army.
So what the hell else is new.
Just like NATO is salted within the Ukrainian army.
Well, we support a Romanian non-profit that shelters Russian men who are avoiding conscription. It keeps these men off the battlefield.
If Russia and Belarus can manage the same with a feint then it’s not a bad tactic.
But if Belarus actually invades into Ukraine then Minsk is a fair target and it’s in range of several Ukrainian weapons systems. I can’t imagine the people of Belarus want their cities attacked all so Putin can stroke his own ego.
The French waited to the final innings before they got serious about helping us kick out the Brits.
BS.
Just an excuse to ask for more weapons for UAF and to have NATO forces on trigger-alert at the borders.
“If Russia and Belarus can manage the same with a feint then it’s not a bad tactic.”
A feint is only good if your prey takes the bait. I don’t think Ukraine would fall for it.
The people of Belarus want no part of this fight. They have NO vested interests in it; there are only downsides.
So Lukashenko is going to be a non-participant as his nation is used as a springboard into Kiev? You're terribly naïve.
Why not? Belarus stayed out of it a year ago, didn’t they? Why should young men from Belarus go die for Putin?
There wasn’t a war a year ago
Helluva lot of Russian troops and equipment there for “ just posturing”
Agreed. Russian troops in Belarus are not just posturing. I was thinking in terms of Belarus posturing to string Russia along, hoping to dodge actually joining the invasion. Belarus’ leadership fears annexation by Russia, and thus resists sending its army out of the country. Wouldn’t want to be in their shoes.
