An additional complication is that the Constitution was largely modeled on Vattel’s “Law of Nations”, which stated a child must be born on American soil, to two citizen parents, in order to be considered a “natural born citizen” vs. a “native-born” citizen (just born here). It was never codified / made official, though. I agree that SCOTUS needs to be involved, if only to issue an Opinion defining the term, once and for all.
Perhaps Clarence Thomas and/or Samuel Alito will soon make themselves more useful than they ever imagined. Lord knows I’d rather have Thomas as Chief Justice over “Weathervane” Roberts any day of the week.

That’s what I was thinking too - if this was not intended to sideline sleepy Joe from 2024, they would have covered it up.
