New strategy: save Odessa and territory west of the Knieper River.

This article is the high art of excuse making. You’d get the impression that what’s left of the Ukraine forces just felt like leaving - they have better areas to defend...lol.
I was told here, countless times, that Russia was losing Bakhmut. Expect tears.
I hate this war and our involvement - but I LOVE watching the harpies cry and screech.

“save Odessa and territory west of the Knieper River.”

I think the deal is if they don’t negotiate peace, demilitarize, denazifi, and acknowledge the four regions plus Crimea belong to Russia BEFORE the the troops assembled to the north and east come in, then they will lose Odessa, be forever a landlocked rump state.
Odessa is the carrot.
Russia is going to want some access to Transnistria, too, in the deal.

“Ukraine: Possible Bakhmut retreat...”
Yes that would be a BRILLIANT move by Ukraine, making the Russians wonder why they ever fought so hard. Little did they know that Ukraine never intended to hold Bakhmut.
(gotta LOVE how the media tries to paint lipstick on this pig - the biggest Ukrainian defeat of the war)

Zelensky over-committed to Donbass and it was a terrible mistake. Ukraine has to be very careful here. The retreat could become a rout.

Ukraine needs the troops for their upcoming assault on Belgorad.

To: JonPreston
Then the war is over and you Russians can go home now.
