Russia has carried out a wave of missile attacks across Ukrainian cities, killing at least five people and causing new disruptions in power supplies, particularly in Kyiv and Kharkiv regions, officials said.
“Unfortunately, there were hits on energy infrastructure,” Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in his nightly video address on Saturday. “In this connection, the most difficult situation is in Kharkiv region and Kyiv region.”

In the Soledar sector, the assault detachments of the PMC “Wagner” are clearing the quarters and underground communications on the western outskirts of Soledar. Today, Wagner entered the territory of the urban-type settlement of Sol and established control over the depot of the railway station of the same name.
▪️In the north-west of Soledar, active battles are taking place on the southern outskirts of Krasnaya Gora and in Paraskovievka near the Bakhmutka River. After the liberation of the railway station Sol, the village of Blagodatnoye was actually cut off from the supply lines from Seversk and Artemovsk (Bakhmut).
▪️The surviving members of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Soledar and its environs are spreading information about huge losses in manpower due to command errors. Fighting continues in Artemovsk (Bakhmut) and its suburbs. After the liberation of Opytnoe by PMC Wagner, position of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the city is deteriorating.
▪️In Minkovka, a reserve command post for the consolidated group has been equipped, and the forces of the 116th brigade of the territorial defense of the Armed Forces of Ukraine from the Sumy region are expected to arrive.
▪️As a result of the active offensive of the RF Armed Forces, the Armed Forces of Ukraine lost control over two company and two platoon strongholds in Artemovsk (Bakhmut), Kleshcheevka and Krasnaya Gora.
▪️Only on January 12, confirmed losses of Ukrainian formations in Artemovsk amounted to 100 people, and 39 were wounded. To strengthen positions, 600 mobilized servicemen without combat experience are expected to be transferred in the near future.
▪️According to the radio interception from Artemovsk, over 800 people have been killed over the past five days, not counting missing and wounded....”

They have been trying to hit generation facilities all along.
But for the most part these are harder targets.
And depending on what is actually hit they may not be that difficult to repair.

Russia has been targeting Ukraine's power grid since October.
Since October, Russia has been aiming many of its missiles at Ukraine’s electricity infrastructure. The attacks appear to be intended to further damage the Ukrainian economy and inflict misery on civilians. In that, they are succeeding.

It wouldn’t be happening without the 2014 coup.
Merkel didn’t support the 2008 deceleration of intention to bring Ukraine into Nayo. She said it was effectively a deceleration of war against Russia.
It’s obvious now that the US goal has always been the destruction or dissolution of Russia. I don’t know why.
Russia would make a natural partner and member of the EU. Sure would be helpful against our real existential threat, China.
But, we drove them right into the arms of China. Now even allies like Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Hungary are trying to position themselves to work with the Russia/China alliance.
Even Israel just signed a trade deal with Russia, one that Iran is signed on, too.
I don’t know what the US is doing. They could have agreed to a neutral Ukraine in December of 2021 and avoided all of it.
