A sheriff in southern Illinois has said the state's ban on the sale and possession of semiautomatic weapons, which was signed into law on Tuesday by Gov. J.B. Pritzker, is unconstitutional and that he won't enforce the ban.
Edwards County Sheriff Darby Boewe posted a letter on the sheriff's department Facebook page that states, "Part of my duties that I accepted upon being sworn into office was to protect the rights to all of us in the Constitution. One of those rights enumerated is the right of the people to keep and bear arms provided under the Second Amendment."
Boewe wrote he believes the legislation, which also limits the size of magazines for rifles and handguns, is a "clear violation" of the Second Amendment.

Yep. It’s junk. I have it just to see what is going on in the area. I’ve been banned from it once . . . and you can never get unbanned.
Very true. But we have made a lot of phone calls to Sheriff’s offices over the last couple of days politely insisting they do the same thing.
It’s definitely having an effect.

70 out of 102 and counting. Roughly southern 2/3 ...and some as far north as Wisconsin line..are culturally and politically as consrvative as Wyoming. Southern accent kicks in about the bottom third. Metro Chicago is the ruination of the state.

The members or our gun club are lighting up phone lines to Sheriffs and Police Chiefs all over the State. Lawsuits will be filed very, very soon.

I doubt there are many fence sitters on this one. Either they are already instinctively with us or against. Some big county sheriff’s like Dart in Cook and the Chicago Chief are nothing but filthy political hacks and bugging them would be just as useless as asking Durbin nof to vote for a ban.
