One of the so-called 'ISIS Beatles' serving a life sentence for the torture and murder of western hostages has disappeared from the US prison system.
Alexanda Kotey, 39, is no longer in custody at Pennsylvania's high-security Canaan prison, Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) records revealed.
The Londoner was jailed in America last year after having pleaded guilty in 2021 to eight criminal charges relating to the abduction, torture and beheading of Islamic State hostages in Syria between 2012 and 2015.
Kotey's disappearance has sparked fury and confusion among his victim's family members, including the daughter of a British aid worker that he murdered.

I have heard many times when an inmate is not tracked in the system is they are moving them to a new facility. Exit the control of the prison to the custody of the US marshals then back to the prison system when they relinquish control.
A reasonable explanation.
However, transportation should never take more than a few days, more likely, hours.
More like a hatred for Americans, Christians and Westerners.

It used to be that if an inmate escaped, the jailer would serve their time until the inmate was recaptured.
The article never said how long he was not in custody of the BoP. Guess they will have to wait until he shows back up or there is an oopsy and a grudgingly given apology at a press conference of “something bad happened and it not really our fault”

There is this presumption that government bureaucracies have reasonable level of competence.
He likely got moved, and the one person that can enter a transfer at new facility is on PTO or just backed up, or just doesn’t give a f*k about getting work done.

When they arrested one of the J6 protesters in West Texas and took him for transport to DC it took 3 - 4 weeks, blowing through all the required preliminary hearing deadlines. The judge in DC excoriated the DOJ but still had him held when any other defendant would have been freed.
