Britain's oldest lorry driver who still works 12 hour days at the age of 90 is set to carry on trucking for another year after passing a health check. Sprightly Brian Wilson started his career as a lorry driver in 1953, when he began delivering petrol for Esso.
And 70 years later, the father-of-four still wakes up at 4am for his 12-hour shifts delivering to various places in the UK such as Rochdale, Birmingham and Newcastle. Just like his lorry, Brian requires a full health check-up from his doctor each year to allow him to keep driving. And after he passed his annual inspection, Brian said he was glad he doesn't have to put the brakes on his career just yet.
He said: "Well if I feel fit enough, then I'm going to carry on even though I'm at a big age. I have to go every year and I'm glad I passed it."
Before working for Esso, Brian started driving armoured trucks during his national service in 1950, when he was stationed in Germany. After returning home and working for the petrol company, he started working for his father's haulage company, E. Wilson & Sons.
He eventually took the firm over when his father passed away in the 1970s and has run it ever since. Brian, of Sheffield, South Yorkshire. has racked up millions of miles over the years, but now keeps to 'short trips' of around 150 miles.
He said: "It all depends on how busy I am, but I've been busy this week. I've been working every day and I'll probably be working more than 40 hours this week.

Clint Eastwood still making movies into his nineties. Hugh Hefner was still ****ing 20 something year olds into his nineties (as best as he could). It’s all about being happy in your work.

Just a quick look at this man’s face pic, gives me the impression that he is fully aware and content with what he’s doing. He gazes (not stares) directly at you with a relaxed face. The ever changing stimulation from this job, the random noises, tolerating bad drivers without blowing his top, the measuring of available space and the adjusting of his truck, is very likely what is keeping him alive.
All that said, if he were my Great-Grandad, I would want him to at very least, reduce his time on the freeway.

I met a 92 year old trucker last year. Still active.
My son began his trucking career at 18 running straight trucks. He’s now OTR flatbed semi’s at 23.
We ALL DID!...........😜
