I think it was 69, but it could have been a 70. It was originally my oldest brother’s car. It got passed down to each of us siblings as we reached driving age. I was 5th of 6. And after I graduated college, I was given it again as I started my life in the “real world”. I took it out to Texas (from Tampa) and within a year it needed a new transmission. Easily had 200,000 miles on it. I was sad and happy at the same time. We sold it for $200 if that. It needed way too much work for me, single and away from family. But that car got me from here to there and taught me a lot of car lessons on the way.
Tom Cruise doesn't have this problem.

Bought Ford products for years both cars and F150s. I was most happy with them. If Ford goes woke, Ford will go broke. Wife person likes her Nissans and they have been most excellent cars. Today I drive a Ram 1500 as the price was right compared to the F150. Both excellent pickups.
Odd note on gas mileage. My 1974 straight six Maverick got slightly less MPG than my new RAM 1500 at nearly twice the weight and more than twice the horsepower. These new engines powering our vehicles today are a marvel of engineering and computer chips.

I have a hybrid escape in my parts lot with 514,000 miles on it. Courier had it.
It’ll start and drive if you ignore the rusted out rear shock towers (first gen escape design flaw)
Make no sense. If demand was so high then raise the price to cover the cost of production.
I suspect a $20,000 small truck was cannibalizing the sales of their $80,000 F150's so they shut it down to force people into the more profitable trucks. If Toyota comes out with a unibody small truck that gets 35 mpg or more it'll be a runaway best seller. The Tacoma was that (minus the unibody) but it kept getting bigger, heavier, with bigger engines until it costs as much and gets the same fuel mileage as a full sized truck. What's the point of it then?
A small inexpensive unibody truck with good fuel mileage that can haul 1000 lbs or so is a very practical vehicle for a lot of people. I was noticing while driving the other day that about 7 of every 10 vehicles on the road are now some sort of compact utility vehicle. There's a reason for that, they really practical for a lot of people's needs. A little truck like this is the same way.

My 92 Isuzu pickup was the best ever. Over 400,000 miles. Exhaust, brakes, oil changes, fuel pump, and ignition tuneup. Even original clutch.

I did not. It's a respectable truck, IMO.
My late ‘90s Ranger is still doing just fine ... If I had to replace it today, I would get a Taco.
