New York Democratic Gov. Kathy Hochul, during her state of the state address Monday, announced plans to ban gas heating on the construction of new buildings over the next several years.
Speaking to the state legislature in Albany, Hochul acknowledged soaring energy costs foot by homeowners and renters across the state, indirectly citing the Russia-Ukraine war in remarking on the "geopolitical forces outside our control but hitting our wallets right here at home."
Arguing the homes in New York are some of the oldest in the nation, leaving them poorly insulated, the governor, elected to her first full term in November after taking over the helm from disgraced predecessor Andrew Cuomo, said buildings are the largest source of greenhouse emissions in the state, accounting for one third of our greenhouse gas output.
"I’m proposing a plan to end the sale of new fossil powered heating equipment by 2030 by calling for construction of – all new construction needs to be zero emission – starting in 2025 for small buildings and 2028 for large buildings," Hochul said. "And we’re taking these steps now because climate change remains the greatest threat to our planet but also to our children and our grandchildren."

“Speaking to the state legislature in Albany, Hochul acknowledged soaring energy costs foot by homeowners and renters across the state, indirectly citing the Russia-Ukraine war in remarking on the “geopolitical forces outside our control but hitting our wallets right here at home.””
The main force outside our control and hitting our wallets is in Washington DC.
“When our leaders speak, the thinking has been done. When they propose a plan—it is God’s plan. When they point the way, there is no other which is safe.”
And if you ever wanted to retrofit . . .
What a lot of ‘infrastructure’ problems, from the building itself to the whole development complex.
I don’t think she’s stupid; the elites seem to be clearing the NYC metro area for their own use down the road. Think of it along the lines of the Potato Famine or Highland clearances; the UK’s 1%ers just wanted the land for themselves (in those cases, it was believed raising animals was more profitable use of the land than renting to tenant farmers).
Some places already ban burning wood; I expect NY will be on that bandwagon as well.
The goal seems to be remove the people - and if they won’t leave voluntarily, make their situations untenable.
The strategy is working through NY and NJ; the 1%ers are removing the serfs.
Good time to start a cartel sell wood.
Rip them out of the state house in Albany.
Update. Its not just the war on nat gas. And it’s not good news...
Makers are fleeing NYS.
The housing that’s being ordered in every area isn’t to attract makers.
It’s to ensure takers flood NYS.
If you own a nice home in NYS, God help you.

“...The relief will also result in a .5% increase in the average customer’s total bill, which will end in one-to-four years for most of New York...”
I thought this is why LIHEAP exists, to help pay utility bills.
Something hinky is going on here.
