ROME, N.Y. -- New York State Sen. Joseph Griffo, R-C-Rome, and the New York State Senate Republican Conference announced Monday its 2023 “Rescue New York” legislative agenda.
The agenda includes a range of policies targeting the decline in public safety, a depleted workforce, high taxes, business regulations, inflation and increased costs of goods. The plan will try to improve public safety, ease the financial burden on middle-class families, small business owners and restore the quality of life in communities.
“New Yorkers continue to flee the state because of the damaging policies that have been put in place by the legislative majorities and governor. It is imperative that we take action – as I have supported and advocated - to stop this exodus and help New Yorkers by providing for significant tax relief, improving the state’s economic and business climate, enhancing public safety and undertaking other critical and important measures that will benefit those living and doing business here. Our plan will do this. It offers real, common-sense solutions, approaches and ideas that will make New York safer, stronger and more affordable, while also restoring much-needed balance to state government,” Griffo said.
The Rescue New York plan includes:
A Safer New York
Restore common sense to our criminal justice system to prevent crime and protect New Yorkers; Increase efforts and investments to end the opioid and mental health epidemics; and Support and protect our seniors.
A Stronger New York
Expand economic opportunity and strengthen our workforce; Invest in infrastructure for the 21st century; and Help our veterans and military families thrive.
A More Affordable New York
Cut the Empire State’s highest-in-the-nation tax burden and control government spending; Reduce the cost of living for families and all residents; Improve New York’s worst-in-the-nation business climate; and Enact climate policies that ensure access to affordable, reliable, and clean energy.
A More Free New York
Provide a high-quality education to all students; Uphold the rights of New Yorkers; and Restore accountability in State government.

The Destruction of the Empire State has been carried out for decades by both Ds and Rs.
Go back to the days of Rocky (the Crook Gov, not the Boxer) and even before.
New York State physically has so very much to make for a great place to live. But greed and stupidity of politicians and the people have pushed it all through the schredder.
People are leaving because there is nothign left to keep them.
how about including gettign rid of the ‘safe act’, and undoing hochul and ilk’s bill to outlaw gas and wood stoves etc?
For the entire east coast....
Put the police on street patrol and make arrests that last longer than 8 hours. If one gets arrested more than once in a week for a violent or drug industry activity, it is time for a timeout for said individual.
I want NYS to recover from years of Leftist idiocy, and I’m glad the R’s are defining what they plan to do.
At the risk of being Capt. Negative.... until the Left releases their death grip control over government - nothing will change. I could be wrong, but recall there used to be enclaves of Republican control north of NYC (like my former home in Monroe County). Many of these seem to have been lost to their accompanying blue cities.
Pray voters to wake up, and strong leaders to step up.
TOO LITTLE
TOO LATE
I grew up on LI, moved to the Finger Lakes area about 25 years ago. It’s beautiful up here, the only negative is it’s in NY. I kick myself for not leaving NYS entirely when I decided to leave Long Island. NYS is completing its journey to a one-party, Marxist basket case.
In 922 days I retire. In 923 I’m outta here.
New York is like Illinois in this respect: It is not really a state, it is a city with a lot of farmland attached. I’m sure the living is great in the country, but the residents have to live with being ruled by a bunch of city slickers far away.
They gave themselves a 30% pay raise ,LOL
As a current resident of this craphole we call HELLINOIS, I'd say that's a pretty accurate assessment.
And the work of reallocating much of NYC's ghettoization and illegal mexican swarms into the smaller towns and cities is well underway. Finger lakes region might have some holdouts for the time being, but its earmarks for liberation from lack of diversity have been set.
Too little especially. Haven’t looked into the details but it sounds even weaker than a Romney agenda.
Nothing about the war on nat gas furnaces and appliances...?
Then repeal the S.A.F.E. ACT
It’s 12 pages of blah blah blah that will never go anywhere.
