Former President Donald Trump congratulated House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) on winning the speaker position, in addition to urging primaries for Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) and Republicans who voted with him on last year’s $1.7 trillion, 4,155-page omnibus spending bill.

“Great job Kevin,” Trump started his statement on his Truth Social account, while “retruthing” a clip of McCarthy thanking the former president for helping get him elected to the position.

McCarthy had to be threatened to do the job of the people to become speaker. Poor choice. Unfortunately, The real Republicans should have gotten together to nominate someone else that they would agree and they failed to do so.
It’s going to be business as usual. That McConnell traitor will be calling the shots here.

It’s not just McConnell, it’s the other Mc., Kevin McCarthy. I think they all got played. Now we will see how fast he betrays the people and how fast this supposed procedure will be to remove him from the Speakership.

We will see how soon McConnell will wrap McCarthy around his finger, and if we will ever see McCarthy support primarying McConnell. I don’t foresee that ever happening. They are one in the same.

Trump and his advisors and supporters sat on their behinds and kept their wallets closed, empowering McConnell and establishment figures and weakening the candidates he (Trump) supported. This was exacerbated by so-called conservative publications publishing headlines and stories that McConnell was “pulling funding” for campaigns. McConnell did not fund campaigns - he had his own super PAC and decided for what races he spent that money on, but he had no control over “funding campaigns.” Those candidates had no support and did not raise money. McConnell and the establishment have absolutely nothing to fear and they know it. Hence why McConnell felt comfortable to show up to an event with Biden. They are emboldened...the MAGA “threat” proved to be a paper tiger.

You know full well this is true no matter if you like hearing it or not.

Hence, why 2024 Trump doesn’t seem like a juggernaut. Given how utterly incompetent and weak his campaign team was in both 2020 and 2022 - why should we have faith they will be any more aggressive in 2024? I’m not talking about his retail politics / rallies - he’s the master at that. But there is also a lot more to winning a campaign. You have to show up to the battle to have a voice in the campaign narrative in mass media, and they didn’t even show up - just let the Democrats and the media control with little to no opposition.

I don’t think the GOP is useless. It’s senior so called leaders Yes. What they fail to realize, or choose to ignore, is why Trump got elected. It was the message. He said what people thought about our current crop of politicians, and he said what people wanted to say about how and where they wanted this country to go. He figured out what people were looking for in a candidate. And that is what will get someone elected to office if they can articulate that message again.

The GOP is us...the local people who work to elect candidates, people who put out signs, work phone banks, all the things that have to be done to win an election. We choose who goes to conventions and we decide who to support. To take our support for granted is simply foolish. We control the money make no mistake. Sure there are large donors but the primary source of funds for the GOP is us. Just witness how many emails, letters, etc we get asking for donations.

This political morass we are now is nothing new. Go look at history. We have had political conflict since the founding of this nation and we have weathered it. We have had leaders appear and guide this country successfully and we will see them again.

We have had and will always have differing views on social, economic, and religion in this country. We have fought a civil war over some of those views. We have the right to go to church or not. We have the right to live where we choose. We can choose who we associate with. This is not a theocracy. This is not a dictatorship. This is a Republic and it is up to us to insure it’s continued existence.

Some poster pointed out that this site exists to give people a place to organize. So how do we organize on a local and state level to take control of the GOP and insure it accurately reflects the views of the people who choose to call themselves members of the GOP??

In short, Trump needs McCarthy as an ally to depose McConnell. The House members are more attached to a popular President. In the Swamp, nothing is guaranteed to work as planned.

You guys are nice. He didn’t slide, he dropped of the freedom radar with his bumpstock ban, Syrian rapefugees, mail in ballots, endless covid cash to stay home, masking, travel restrictions and big pharma tax billions via our lord n savior the vax.
Critical components of our daily lives were stripped of “ant vaxxers” who had the nerve to question science. So now the border must stay open for enough obedient workers to finance Washington.
