UK considering supplying Ukraine with Challenger 2 tanks to fight Russian forces
Sky news ^ | 9th January 2023 | Deborah Haynes

The UK is considering supplying Ukraine with British tanks for the first time to fight Russia's invading forces, Sky News understands.

Discussions have been taking place "for a few weeks" about delivering a number of the British Army's Challenger 2 main battle tank to the Ukrainian armed forces, a Western source with knowledge of the conversations said.

Such a move would mark a significant step-up in Western support to Ukraine and could help prompt other NATO allies, in particular Germany, to follow suit.

...One source suggested Britain might offer around 10 Challenger 2 tanks, enough to equip a squadron.

...Ukraine has long requested the mass-produced, German-made Leopard II tanks, used by several European allies, including Germany, Poland, Finland, the Netherlands and Spain

Warsaw and Helsinki have already signalled a willingness to supply their Leopard tanks to Kyiv but this requires approval from Berlin because Germany holds the export licence.

Maybe not in the case of the Russians whose munitions are woefully antiquated, but in the face of modern day drones and wire guided AT weapons, the MBT is going the way of the battleship on the modern day battlefield.

The Challenger II is in a completely separate class than the best Russian tanks (their best tanks are not as good as the original M1s that had the 105mm gun). When used properly in combined arms warfare such tanks are awesome weapons that can close with and destroy the enemy.

Here is what Western militaries did to T-72 type armor thirty years ago:

The West is not holding back on sending weapons and ammunition to Ukraine. Just the opposite. The United States and NATO have sent Ukraine an unprecedented amount of aid and it has not stopped the Russians. Moreover, the United States and NATO no longer have ample stocks of some key weapon systems and ammunition, especially artillery shells, to send to Ukraine. The military cupboard is bare.

But let us ignore reality and indulge the fantasy that NATO can magically find, “longer-range missiles, advanced drones, significant ammunition stocks (including artillery shells), and more reconnaissance and surveillance capability” to send to Ukraine. Who is going to operate those weapon systems? And the timeline for training Ukrainian troops to operate these systems with some measure of competence is counted in months at a minimum.

###

Multiple sources now are reporting that Ukraine is suffering catastrophic casualties as they desperately try to hold on the Bakhmut:

Russian forces have ground down their Ukrainian opponents in fierce fighting near Bakhmut/Artyomovsk, with an American mercenary commander recently acknowledging that Ukraine is suffering “extraordinarily high casualties” in that sector, and Ukraine’s ambassador to Canada, Vadim Pristaiko, describing his side’s casualties as “huge” and “indigestible.”

Kiev has publicly proclaimed that it plans a major offensive in the spring, but Rice and Gates wrote that Ukraine may have “weeks, not months” to stay in the fight.

###

The truth is that Russia is methodically moving forward and Ukraine has been unable to mount a credible counter offense.

###

Robert Gates and Condoleezza Rice got one thing right, Ukraine may only have weeks, not months, before it is overwhelmed.

Yes, the UK should send all 17 of their tanks—and the two platoons of men/women to Ukraine to fight Russia. Do send the Queen Elizabeth Carrier as well with the whole British Airforce—Heck they will be there soon when WW III starts.

Kazan on January 19th 2022 “Russia is not going to invade Ukraine”

Kazan on February 28th 2022 “Ukraine will be defeated in two weeks”

Kazan in April “Ukraine will lose in 2 weeks”

Kazan in May “Ukraine will lose in 2 weeks”

Kazan in July “Ukraine will lose in 2 weeks”

Kazan in September “This offensive will fail and Ukraine will lose in weeks”

You have no credibility.

You live in Kazan, Russia, right?

To little, to late. The logistical problems are massive- just more targets for Vlad, if they ever even arrive to the fields of battle. Right now they are scurrying around to get 100, 105 and 115 ammo for their rag tag welfare army.

Putin needs to take Odessa, thus shutting down Ukraine and the war instantly.

Since this war began, you, your fellow Deep Staters here and Western media here have claimed Putin was dead and Russia was using a body double and that he had blood, stomach and thyroid cancer and Parkinson's. Yet, within the last month or so, he's hosted five hour press conferences and Q/A sessions, chaired meetings with cameras present, visited thef frontlines in Bakhmut and appeared as Santa in a video.

We've also been told by you and your ilk here and in the media since March that Russia was running out of missile and ammunition on regular basis.

The only thing I've been wrong about is the speed at which the Russians have decided to proceed. They have deliberately slow walked this war and run the Ukrainian military through a meat grinder. That has had the added benefit of de-militarizing NATO. It also always the Russians to continue to maintain a healthy supply of weapons and ammunition.

And, claiming I'm from Kazan? That's an insult worthy of only an imbecile like Speedy from Texas, whose to stupid to be in Deep State.

It's time for you to put up or shut up. I've said for a long time and my prediction will continue to stand -- that all annexed territory will remain part of Russia after this war is over. BET ME OTHERWISE. GOT THE GUTS, YOU DEEP STATE SCUMBAG? And, if Ukraine doesn't unconditionally surrender, the Russians will take even more territory.

Firstly - I ain’t a deep stater

Secondly - I’ve never claimed nor even speculated that Putin was dead.

Thirdly - I’ve never claimed that Russia has run out of missiles.

You are advocating that a dictator grabs territory militarily?

You would be cheering Hitler on his land grabs in 1938-1941 eh?

The Ukies had a chance to comply ( negotiate) the Minsk accords they signed in 2015, they instead chose to start bombing the ethnic Russian provinces (Donbass) for eight years.

The US then set up training camps in Eastern Ukraine ( 2015) preparing the Ukies for war. It doesn’t get any more complicated than that.

Vlad has shown much restraint, make no mistake he now will end the war on his terms….and there is nothing the West can do about it, except to keep escalating, down “ to the last Ukrainian “.
