Electric vehicles have become popular over the past few years. But EVs could take a significant hit based on what’s happening in Switzerland.
According to a report in the Telegraph in December, the country is weighing emergency measures in case of an electricity supply shortage this winter.
Switzerland — the best country in the world according to a recent analysis from US News & World Report — could shorten store operating hours, lower the thermostats at buildings, and limit the private use of electric cars to “absolutely necessary journeys.”
But just the suggestion of curbing EV use fired up the country’s auto lobby. Director of the auto-schweiz importers group, Andreas Burgener, called it “a disservice to electromobility.”
“Customers who buy or order a vehicle now will think twice about whether they should go back to petrol or diesel,” Burgener said in an interview with Reuters.
The proposed measures haven’t been passed into law, they do serve as a reminder that electricity doesn’t magically appear at every wall outlet — and EVs don't run on fairy dust.
And this potential setback for electric vehicles serves as a reminder that traditional energy is not dead. The Energy Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLE) — which provides exposure to oil and gas companies — has actually gone up 44% in the last year.

They’ll have to think again when everyone in the U.S. to include 50 million illegal aliens is driving EVs. You’ll only be able to drive it on days that DON’T END IN “Y”.
I don’t have to think twice. Thought about it once and decided it is a stupid idea that is not ready for prime time.
For example;
Even if we had the power grid to support them, there aren’t enough resources available to produce that many EVs.
Roads and parking facilities aren’t up to handling that many overweight cars.
Recently,Kalifornia and Texas have had electricity shortages due to weather and other things. That's happening despite many "polluting" plants are still operating and about 2% of cars on the road are EVs.
Disaster is a certainty under their plans. but we can be sure that *they* will *always* be able to get where they need to...or want to...go.Because they're the elite...they don't live under the same rules.
Electric vehicles have become popular over the past few years = lie.
I do often wonder if Die Schweiz isn’t a more exceptional country than the USA.
Everything Leftists have wanted since the late ‘60s and ‘70s, and every government agency created at the time to placate rioting hippies, is antiquated garbage and should be disposed of.
[[Disaster is a certainty under their plans.]]
But sadly they will foist their doomed to fail plans on us all, then cry about there not being enough energy to fuel all the electric vehicles, and accuse people of being selfish for wanting to drive anywhere-
The New United States is a third world country.
There is apparently discussion in the Alps to shut down ski-lifts to “save” electricity.
The EV is to vehicles what the CFL was to light bulbs.
Hold out for the Hydrogen Fuel Cells...the LEDs of vehicle technology!
I thought they no longer had snow anyway thanks to climate hysteria
And in “their” hubris “they” will not be able to “save the planet” from the emerging Ice Age.
They are very popular with white housewives wanting to virtue signal on their way to Starbucks.
Climates change...it’s what they do.
Its been a helluva long time since I slept in a Holiday Inn Express.
And I still don’t have Geico...
There’s a long hike up...
“And in “their” hubris “they” will not be able to “save the planet” from the emerging Ice Age”.
You’re right and not many people are aware of that.
I have lived on the same ground for six plus decades.
The deciduous forest is evolving in to Taiga.

👍
I’m 2 years into my 7th decade.
Fire Departments don’t have enough dunk tanks into which they toss burning EVs.
