Sen. Ben Sasse, R-Neb., an outspoken critic of former President Donald Trump, officially resigned from the Senate on Sunday as he prepares to step back into academia as president of the University of Florida.
Sasse, who led Midland University, a small private collage in his home state, prior to running for Senate, submitted his resignation last month saying that he would leave office Jan. 8 — two years into his second term.
Sasse's departure opens up the seat to an appointment from Nebraska Gov. Jim Pillen, a Republican. The state's previous governor, Republican Pete Ricketts, has said he would seek the appointment.
I think Ron White would be better. He knows how to handle things after dealing with 99 buffoons: a scotch on the rocks and a cigar.

Ricketts endorsed Trump in ‘16 and ‘20, according to Ballotopedia, so that’s an improvement over Sasse.
He also refused the Covid lockdown in NE.
Trump could buy a golf course in Nebraska. all would work extremely well.

Sasse aways wanted to have a “conversation” about something - mainly to hear himself talk.
All set to fill that seat with a RINO.
Sasse's "scandal" was that he showed his true Democrat colors when he voted to impeach Trump over fake charges.
Which Republican would ever again donate to such a traitor?
Facing a lack of funds as a greasy politician, he worked his way into another taxpayer funded job, this time in academia.

For all of his anti-Trumpism, the Heritage Foundation gave him an 87% rating. ACU gave him a lifetime rating of 90.96%. Conservative Review gave him an 81% Liberty Score.
You're not getting anywhere close to that with a Democrat.
