Avideo of an electronic announcement at a bus terminal in Belarus calling for males of military age to go to an enlistment center has led to speculation over whether mobilization could take place in the country whose leader is Vladimir Putin's close ally.
The appeal appears on digital signage hanging on the first-floor balcony of the waiting room at the transport hub in the city of Barysau (Barysaw), located in the Minsk region, around 45 miles northeast of the capital city.

I think it’s safe to say that Belorussia has its eyes on part of what will become eventually rump Ukraine
Also...
“On December 27, Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen announced the re-extension of the military draft to one year, up from the current four months. “
As does Poland and perhaps Hungary and Romania
I can’t believe that the ordinary people there want to.join this fight.
Do we have an aide package ready for them yet?
Time for a vacation...in Malaga, maybe.
“As does Poland and perhaps Hungary and Romania”
Not Poland.
“I can’t believe that the ordinary people there want to.join this fight.”
They don’t - but since when has that mattered to dictators?
“I can’t believe that the ordinary people there want to.join this fight.”
Instead of us taking part of Mexico, Mexico is coming to us.
Elevnty billion dollars
If Lukashenko does force Belarus to fight Ukraine, he has a high chance of ending up like Nicolae Ceaușescu.
He is stuck between a rock (his citizens and Army) and a hard place (Putin).
So far, he’s been able to thread the needle.
Asking men to report (but not actually mobilize) might be more threading.
What is a “male”?
Or they need to meet recruiting goals.
I doubt if a mobilization order would send folks to an “Enlistment Office.”
I am too young to know how the draft inducted folks in the US, but I doubt if they directed you to a recruiting station.
Bullshit I don’t believe that
I think Poland would love to have parts of north west Ukraine
they fought over this for centuries including some incredibly brutal fighting and torture in Mayhem including eviscerating pregnant women at the stake over territory and stupid religious issues between orthodox and catholic and I will submit I think the orthodox behaved worse
Western Ukraine is going rump and some going to want to snag pieces
Someone explain to me the Galician ethnic thing about true Ukrainians I saw a program on this yesterday and I was stunned because to me Galatians were always Celtic Spaniards on the north part of Spain where Fidel Castro came from I do not know a lot about European history admittedly eastern European sorry
Title of thread “Belarus sign calls for all male citizens to attend enlisment office”
wardaddy in post #4 “As does Poland and perhaps Hungary and Romania”
vladimir 998 post #9 “Not Poland”
wardaddy “Bullshit I don’t believe that”
Wardaddy — you are talking with zero knowledge. I live in Poland - in Podkarpackie. And there is no “calling up for all male citizens”
Let me repeat that for you — Poland is NOT calling up for male citizens to be conscripted.
Or even be registered.
Heck, konfederacja, a group of nationalists, etc. parties has said everyone should be thought to shoot, but that ain’t happened.
So, wardaddy — you are talking utter nonsense about Poland and I’m refuting you.
wardaddy “Poland would love to have parts of north west Ukraine”
And this is more utter nonsense — Poland does NOT want to have parts of NW Ukraine.
Not the Polish people — I can say at least 95% of the population don’t want “parts of NW Ukraine” - even the super patriots don’t “want” Lwów — they’d like it to acknowledge its Polish past. You may find 1 or 2% who would want Lwów “back”, but next to no one who wants the entire area up to Lwów, leave alone past it. Why? Because Lwów was always a Polish island in a Ukrainian sea.
“they fought over this for centuries “
Not quite - the “they” changed over the centuries - initially this was the Lithuanians who ruled the area along with the Ruthenians (ancestors of the Ukrainians and the Belarussians) who took it from the GOlden Horde tatars.
The the joint Polish-Lithuanian commonwealth fought the Tatars, the Ottomans, the Grand Duchy of Muscowy, the Cossack Hetmanate etc. over the area to the east of Kyiv.
Lwów/L’viv only came into play in the 1700s.
Wołyń was a massacre yes, and Poles remember it - but have you even seen the movie Wołyn — I urge you to watch it. It doesn’t shy away from the grimness.
Poles have not forgotten, but they have forgiven. And especially NOW, thanks to Putin the relations between Poland and Ukraine are warm.
No Polish government, faction etc. would want Western Ukraine as part of Poland. Not a single one.
“Bullshit I don’t believe that”
All that means is that you’re out of touch with reality.
Cronos is on point!
I really don’t understand wardaddy and other folks who seem to think Poland wants a chunk of NW Ukraine.
This is obviously Russian propaganda.
My in-laws are pretty nationalistic, well my brother in law is and even he would go with the facetious “I’d exchange Wroclaw for Lwow” as a joke.
Lwow has a deep significance to Polish history and is a very Polish city in look and feel.
But it was always a Polish island in a Ukrainian sea. It is not feasible to have that as part of a “Polish nation state” - even Konfederacja see that.
Wardaddy - seriously, repeating Russian propaganda does not do you any favors
