Boy aged SIX is arrested 'after he deliberately shot his female teacher inside first-grade classroom at Virginia elementary school, leaving her critically-ill'

A six year-old boy has been taken into custody after he allegedly deliberately shot his first-grade teacher at his Virginia elementary school, leaving her critically-ill.

Newport News Police have taken a student, who has not been publicly identified, into custody. The female teacher, who is in her 30s, has also not been identified and was taken to Riverside Regional Medical Center.

'The individual is a six-year-old student and is right now in police custody,' Newport News Chief Scott Drew said at a press conference on Friday. 'This was not an accidental shooting.

'It was in a classroom, an altercation took place there,' he said. 'We did not have a situation where someone was going around the school shooting. We had a situation in one particular location where a gunshot was fired.'

The incident unfolded at Richneck Elementary School, a school for kids aged five to nine, just before 2pm. No children were harmed and police are working to figure out how the child had access to the gun.

A grandmother of one of the students told DailyMail.com that a student brought 'shiny gold bullets' to school last week, but it is unclear if it is the same child who was taken into custody today.

A British parent of one of the students, who is currently based in the US as her husband is in the military, is now demanding the town do something about the gun problem.

'Guns, that's the biggest problem in this country,' she told WTKR. 'Why is there a seven-year-old with a bloody gun? ... How does a seven-year-old have a gun?

'I'm only here because my husband is in the military. Otherwise, I would not have chosen to come to this country.'

leaving her critically-ill

"Ill", huh?

I guess taking a bullet will do that to a person.

"Newport News" — that's all I need to know. Pictures wouldn't add a thing.

Must have bought a ghost gun from a gun show where they regularly sell guns to the under 13 crowd. It’s the table where they sell guns with a shoulder thing that goes up.

The teacher is not critically “ill”. She has been critically injured by a little thug. Maybe students should be required to fill out a form which asks if they are a child of gang members. This would give teachers a heads up as to the possibility of being shot by such a “child”.

The gun is not the problem!
It is people like you who are the problem!

Instead of placing the blame on the person pulling the trigger you blame an inanimate object.
A killer is going to kill regardless of the weapon!

I read one commenter say “I’ll withhold judgment until I find out whether she was grooming him or not.” Hm.

The CIA’s The Farm is roughly 10 miles to the northwest. Plus joint military command centers nearby. Rich in military support personnel.

When you are guaranteed the right to arm yourself by a Constitutional amendment, once it a great while because of a negligent parent or a feral associate a youth will get hold of a weapon.

Even though rare it's the price society pays for protecting our rights and liberties from enemies foreign and domestic that would seek to infringe or eliminate said.

But you wouldn't know that would you lady.

The dam will be arrested then.

The sire gets off scot free. Dam probably doesn’t even know who it is.

Teacher probably told him he was really a girl and would have to get his twang cut off. I suspect he wasn’t too hot on that future.
