If he wasn’t such a sleaze-he’d stand down!
Have you ever studied the anticipated shift of power from career politicians to career unelected, maybe unionized, workers? Term limits shifts power, doesn’t solve the problem of entrenched, maybe corrupt politicians. The only solution to them is good candidates and voters.
Don’t give up on term limits. See my post #35.
Kev agrees to have both his spine and gonads removed. He will be perfect.
But nothing was really gained and McCarthy will wins.
The fundamental Boehner problem was his willingness to use Dem votes to get legislation through over the majority of his own caucus.
This issue arises most prominently with Debt Ceiling fights.
In the current instance, I suspect a majority of the GOP caucus will approve of debt ceiling increases for almost any reason whatsoever.
There is $31T in debt, but about $7T of that is held by the Fed and drains no interest from Treasury. So a ceiling increase (we’re on track for $1T deficit this year, so there WILL be a debt ceiling fight) is guaranteed to come up. The GOP . . . SHOULD use it to undo the recent omnibus bill. Whether or not a majority of the conference would approve of that is doubtful, but possible.
McKaren will start reaching across the isle post haste.
Perhaps more optimistically, its called "a first step in draining the swamp". As in reducing the RINO influence in the R party; a handful with determination and political determination are rising to the challenge.
No big deal. One member motion was the rule for a couple centuries, changed in 2018. Doesn't mean there will be a vote on the issue, the last vote was around 100 years ago.
Yep. I agree 100%. In writing! I don’t trust anything that comes out of the mouth of those in DC. They’re all backstabbing weasels. They say one thing they promise so much on the campaign trail, and as soon as they step foot on the steps of the capitol they become wolves in sheep clothing. Thank God for those 20 brave Republicans! I still don’t trust McCarthy he needs to go. Period! He is poison, cancer, and part of the swamp establishment. That will never change. It’s all about the money, the power and having the boot on the neck of us peasants. It’s all about power and control.
“Lets get it in writing..”
Lets get it in writing...tattooed on McCarthy’s forehead!
I don’t trust McCarthy to honor any of his commitments. He’s too much of a dyed in the wool swamp denizen, like Mitchie McConnell.
The grandfathering process has a great deal of merit.
Term limits is the fundamental mechanism for draining the Swamp. Grandfathering would protect current alligators, who have no interest at all in future alligators.
“This one member motion to vacate is ridiculous...”
Yep, it only worked well for 100+ years.
“...There’s a Democrat senate and president, none of that shit will go through. They should require things that he can do such as a new church committee and release of all January 6th files.”
Yep, everyone, including the so-called ‘holdouts’, knew this from the beginning. Think there’s going to be 60 votes in the Senate to pass anything useful? Think Biden is going to sign this stuff into law? Zero chance.
Stop hyperventilating:
Fact check: When was the “motion to vacate the chair” rule last used in Congress?

It’s called leverage, and their constituents demand it be used, aka “representation”.
This one member motion to vacate is ridiculous. So one disgruntled member can tie up the whole House? Anyone not believe that Boebert or Gaetz will try it?
?/\
Its called
Checks
And
Balances
It USED to be a foundational premise of our Republic.
It’s a good , nay, necessary thing.
4000 page omnivoupusa bill no one can read in 3 hours is what we ended up with out it.
