The Dems can shit in one hand and wish in the other...guess which one fills up first?

They have no power. They would have to get 5 Repubs to join in the motion to vacate. They would not even try, ever.

McCarthy will be elected Speaker.

Who else is sufficiently craven, supine, and neutered to satisfy the membership?

Absent a Black Swan event such as war with China over Taiwan, the critical issue for 2023 will be the survival of our monetary system. The Democrats and Mitch McConnell in the Senate are driving the country into a fiscal nightmare leaving the Fed with a Hobson's choice of imposing high interest rates to wring inflation out of the economy at the cost of the economy itself, or pivoting and opening the floodgates of inflation.

The last line of defense will be in the House and the appropriations process which this deal at least makes somewhat viable.

This one member motion to vacate is ridiculous. So one disgruntled member can tie up the whole House? Anyone not believe that Boebert or Gaetz will try it?

I heard Boebert say yesterday that this was always the rule until Pelosi changed it.

It was the status quo prior to Pelosi regaining the gavel in 2018. This just restores what was previously available for probably a hundred years in the House.

Ha! People who think Kevin caved don’t know Kevin. He is already plotting for ways around all of this.

At this point, I don’t want him. His behavior during this ordeal revealed a side that’s unacceptable.

= = =

Not sure it would tie things up.

If the one member was out of line, all the others would just vote no, and it’s over. And he may get repercussions.

I wouldn’t call for a vote unless the speaker had gone wacko and many others recognized it also.

How stupid to demand a votes on term limits and balance budgets and all that 1990s crap. There’s a Democrat senate and president, none of that shit will go through. They should require things that he can do such as a new church committee and release of all January 6th files.

I rather hope this changes nothing.

I think this seals the deal for McCarthy. I heard Boebert basically listing these same demands last night.

"I could see AOC doing it every single day."

And the down-side of that is ... what? Congress wasting 10 minutes each morning on a vote because a democrat is a moron?

Listen to the democrats bloviate when they stand up to vote for Jeffries. Ten minutes is nothing to professional time wasters. At least the motion to vacate will make them look like the morons they are.

A single motion to vacate was the rule since the beginning up until Pelosi and her ilk changed it to shore up her evil reign. No reason not to change it back.

It is doable if current members of Congress are grandfathered in (they would not be subject to the limitations). This might get quite a few of the current members on board.

There is actually precedence for this. When the 22nd Amendment was passed limiting a president to two terms, the current president - Harry Truman - was grandfathered in. Truman could have run for a third term, or even more.

So the House votes on 12 budget bills that die in a Dem senate. Then McConnell negotiates another omnibus with Schumer and dumps a “take it or leave it” deal on the House. Hard to see anything different coming out of this but at least they are fighting the swamp a bit.

A RINO caving? That is SOP for them.

You may well be right. I'm surprised it went almost seven rounds. I figured McCarthy would cave after the second. But since I was wrong, and four more rounds have passed exposing him as the RINO puppet he is since then, now is the time to finish him rather than let him slink off to a new office to double cross you later.

"This one-member motion to vacate is ridiculous."

It was the accepted procedure for nearly 200 years until Nancy Pelosi changed it.

Yes, that rule was in place since the civil war, well until recently. Nanzi deleted it.
