Nineteen House Republicans on Tuesday abandon fellow GOP Rep. Kevin McCarthy in the first and rounds of balloting for speaker.
The loss on first round was the first time that has happened in roughly 100 years, according to MetroWeekly.com.
The balloting in the first round was:
Ten voted for Arizona GOP Rep. Andy Biggs:
Six voted for Ohio GOP Rep. Jim Jordan:
One for Indiana GOP Rep. Jim Banks:
One for Florida GOP Rep. Byron Donalds
One for New York GOP Rep. Lee Zeldin
In the second round, all 19 for the divided first-round votes went for Jordan.

“How many votes are needed for the speakership?”
50% +1 of the number present at the time of the vote.
So as an example, if only 200 members were present, it would only require 101 votes.
So theoretically a Dem could win?
Ralph Norman (S.C.)
I’m in. Ralph Norman is my guy. I’m calling his local office in Rock Hill in the morning and expressing my most profound gratitude to Rep. Norman for standing strong.
South Carolina ping, please!
Technically, after the last vote, Hakeem Jeffries is in the lead. I don’t imagine he has much chance to get 6 Republican votes, though.
Not all heroes wear capes.
In regards to republicans, the speaker and leadership positions should be regularly changed, NOT enthroned. This is not to produce chaos but to keep improving — it is done in any real organization, business or team of any kind. Without it you have this lifeless controlled group of ‘republicans’.
It could happen, but even if it did, I would not hold the holdouts accountable. I hold the SELLOUTS accountable.
If a number of democrats are not present at tomorrow’s vote, then you know the fix is in and mccarthys corrupt fingerprints will be all over it.
Technically after that last vote Hakeem Jeffries should have should have been driven out of the capital.
Newt just compared the 20 patriots voting against the RINO McCarthy, terrorists. Crazy Hannity is also dumping on the patriots. Despicable.
Biggs scores around 94% conservative. I could accept him. If all 19 pulls for Biggs next vote, then maybe some others will join and get the snow ball rolling.
.
Sean Hannity is calling McCarthy - “Kevin” on
National TV.
He’s so cloistered, he’s tone deaf.
.
Why?
Lol. And yet, he has his caucus united behind him.
Is there a dark horse in the Republican caucus who can get 218 votes?
...all that’s needed are a couple of concessions and the idiots would rather have a dem as Speaker than give any concessions. That should be all we need to know. It’s over.
...and listening to the Newt it’s all personal, no principles involved at all. Sorry I’m not buying.
Bingo!!!
Hannity drank the establishment kool-aid a long time ago.
.
Lindsey’s always getting to the bottom of something
.
He left office to run for Tx AG.
