Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) went off on some of her Republican colleagues on Tuesday as the contentious speakership vote is underway, telling reporters that some of her Freedom Caucus colleagues and “supposed friends” have been demanding positions for themselves and acting hypocritically.
“We have been negotiating talking, debating back and forth in our conference, trying to come to a really good rules package,” she said, explaining that she witnessed a very different story in the conference meeting, where she discovered that “several members, three, in fact,” went “last night and were demanding positions for themselves, demanding gavel positions, demanding subcommittees, demanding for people to be taken off committees and people to be put on committees.

I’m laughing so hard at your comment! Hilarious!
Re: 24 - Good points.
Because they get to control a 4000+ page bill, that spends fake money, to get anything they want. They don’t care.
Name one
MTG does not get my support on this one. I am never McCarthy, MTG is not. I’ve heard her explain her reasons on War Room before Christmas and was not convinced.
I’m so sick of having “Well, Trump endorsed him,” thrown in my face. That’s an easy criticism for people who don’t like Trump to use.
News Flash: We are all free thinkers. We all know, or should know, that Trump isn’t perfect when it comes to endorsements.
MTG should have figured this out by now.
McCarthy’s support is eroding. Jim will be the next speaker.
“Democrats stick together like glue.”
Democrats stick together like a long tErd.
She seemed shocked that her colleagues were making deals with McCarthy for committee assignments for themselves.
She was “pissed” that none of her colleagues advocated for HER to get assignments.
She's been in DC long enough to know that most of them are there to further their own careers and bank accounts.
And now she expects a Sunday School picnic?
She has some good points, but McCarthy is one off the bad guys.
I think the point is that the the “hold outs” are wrapping themselves in the flag and spouting principal and high ideals for their reckless brinkmanship, when i reality they are just playing hard ball to cut sweet deal for themselves to further their power and position while McCarthy is under duress .
Which was what my gut was feeling me was the real sitrep. Don't really appreciate pond scum politicians poisoning the well for their own gain and self promotion while risking the slim House working majority we worked so hard to elect with their lies. Gaetz may be OK with Hakiem Jeffories becoming the next speaker but I damn well am not. Gatez just jumped the shark IMHO.
I for one am not so interested in hearing about his self proclaimed "firebrand" BS anytime in the near future if these are the games he's playing. There is fine line between being a "firebrand" and an arsonist and these guys are crowding the fine line of burning the House down a little too close for my comfort.
I hope you realize that a majority is needed for Jeffries to become Speaker. That means Republicans have to vote for him win. Personally, I don’t see any difference between Jeffries and McCarthy. Both are steaming piles of excrement.
+1
Why is it a criticism for people who don't like Trump? Trump is clear.
You are either 100% with Trump, or you are 100% against him.
Don’t fall for the media hype. This is healthy in my book and kudos to Gaetz for getting McCarthy on the record the other day.
The “Republican” Speaker should support securing the border. I can’t think of an easier litmus test than that one, but he would not commit.
All this show crap with our “leadership” the past decade plus has gotten us nowhere. That gave us Boner and Ryan and where did that get us?
Ryan sabotaged the first two years of the Trump presidency. Neither of them promoted a conservative agenda.
We need more chaos on Capital Hill - not less. Leadership works to make sure their “members” don’t have to make tough votes that the conservative base will remember and nothing gets done except they get richer and we get poorer.
What did he promise MTG?
Gaetz had jumped the shark before he entered Congress.
On the other hand, we shouldn't complain about Republicans, if we are okay with McCarthy. The reality is, he will be working against Republican interests. There is a 75% chance the Democrats take the House back in 2024.
And Biden will get more of his agenda passed in the next two years, than he did in the last two. No more Manchin and Sinema to bail us out.
I’m curious to know why everyone is infatuated with Jordan. He’s the Midwest version of Gowdy. Lots of talk.
Everyone loves him. Yet he never seems to want to step up.
There’s a really good book written by a former Delta Force member, Paul Howe. Book is titled, Leadership and Training For The Fight. Quick read. He gives examples of situations he was in and how they can be applied to life.
In the very beginning of the book is written(I think I have it right)…..those who seek leadership the most are seldom the most suited for it.
McCarthy has been there for years. He was groomed by Ryan, Boehner and Cantor. That should be all anyone needs to know.
On a side note, while looking up the Howe book, I found this:
https://socialistpartyzambia.com/2020/11/10/the-least-inclined-to-lead-seek-leadership-the-most/
The least inclined to lead seek leadership the most
It’s very difficult to understand why a politician who has brought his nation to its knees economically, politically and socially would so strongly, or even illegally, seek to continue leading it.
How can someone who has bankrupted this country seek to continue leading it? Lead to where? To further bankruptcy, ruin?
Unfortunately, it would seem, when it comes to political leadership, it is the least inclined who seek it the most – without political power they probably feel they’re nothing.
Thus the best suited to rule are least likely to want to, and perhaps those less suited to rule will be more inclined to desire power due to their own sake, personal aggrandizement.
To understand this behavior better I turned to great philosopher Plato’s wisdom.
According to Plato only those who do not seek power are qualified to hold it. Those who seek power are not worthy of that power.
Actually, they all suck. They all have hidden agendas. They all are in it for themselves.
Complaining about inside baseball is all...can get tiresome. Tattletales also a drag ultimately.
This is great evidence for throwing out everyone in DC. They have NO intention of representing us, and cleaning up the fetid DC swamp. None.
Nothing a meteor strike on Capitol Hill can’t take care of.
