Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) went off on some of her Republican colleagues on Tuesday as the contentious speakership vote is underway, telling reporters that some of her Freedom Caucus colleagues and “supposed friends” have been demanding positions for themselves and acting hypocritically.
“We have been negotiating talking, debating back and forth in our conference, trying to come to a really good rules package,” she said, explaining that she witnessed a very different story in the conference meeting, where she discovered that “several members, three, in fact,” went “last night and were demanding positions for themselves, demanding gavel positions, demanding subcommittees, demanding for people to be taken off committees and people to be put on committees.

Why? Trump commanded his supporters to back McCarthy. She is doing that.
So are tens upon tens of millions of others. So what of it?
“Bunch of self-absorbed people bartering with their vote.....”
I think you just described nearly every elected representative ever.
Politicians, I’m always skeptical of guys who refer to themselves in the third person and self label themselves as firebrands. Strangely, no one else calls the dude a firebrand. So much for Gaetz . As for MTG, never her her refer to herself as a firebrand - just other people do. I’m not adverse to high stakes plays, I just don’t see any in for the win end game being played here.
The only fraud so far is McCarthy.
I have trouble trusting Matt Gaetz. Back right before Alex Jones was deplatformed, Matt Gaetz would go on Infowars and once Alex Jones got deplatformed, Matt Gaetz apologized for going on Infowars. He wasn’t apologetic because he had a “come to Jesus” moment, he was apologetic to keep big tech from deplatforming him. He was calculating like he is now. I am no fan of McCarthy but this is ridiculous.
He’s getting 202 votes. That’s quite a bit.
Republicans always in disarray. Democrats stick together like glue.
I’d feel better if more than 20 were opposing KM.
20 can’t run the House they can only obstruct it.
On the surface….
None of them are honest, all of them are put to further their careers or their profiles. I personally hope they fight straight through to 2024, absolutely nothing gets passed for two years, and the government is shut down for most of it.
Obviously, MTG has been promised something by McCarthy for her support. For others, its about more than committee assignments and chairmanships.
Absolutely, it just grows worse until it’s THEIR standard.
Exactly. If McCarthy wants to be the leader, he needs to lead his caucus. If he cannot get them to line up on something as critical as speaker, how can he be relied upon to line them up when other important things come up. Moving people into leadership positions because of seniority is anathema to excellence. It's time for McCarthy to prove his worth, or bow out.
Why don’t they just nominate someone who can be trusted
There are so few
Sounding like Madison Cawthorne, just a little bit...
If that is true then what’s her angle..??She probably has a good idea of what will happen if McCarthy doesn't prevail.
Sometimes your only options are a bad choice or a worse choice.
Especially in politics.
Many are scared to oppose Trump.
Lizzy was let out of the bus at the last stop never to reboard.
Some quotes from the film, The Day The Earth Stood Still.
Professor Barnhardt: “Tell me, Hilda. Does all this frighten you? Does it make you feel insecure?”
Hilda: “Yes, sir, it certainly does.”
Professor Barnhardt: “That’s good, Hilda. I’m glad.”
