I was being sarcastic to the person I said that to and later apologized.
I understand what you said. Thanks.

We don’t know everything about his sufferings and crosses.
We can’t know.
Hopefully he did his best.
May God help and bless us all and forgive us our shortcomings.

Yes, that is presumptuous as well - but I’m Catholic.

Now comes the punishment Purgatory? That awaits most of us Christians.
Hell? I don't think so.

I remember after he was elected how the media went nuts, calling him a nazi. KFI-AM's Bill Handel always referred to Benedict as "the Nazi Pope." Handel is not too far to the Left, but he's Jewish, and could never forgive Benedict having been in the Hitler Youth (despite it being mandatory at his age).

Let’s hope he entrusted himself to Christ alone for salvation and eternal life in His presence. Does it occur to you that Christ might want you to venerate his mother, and pray to the saints, and undergo the Holy Sacraments (Mass, Confession, etc.)?

—> Does it occur to you that Christ might want you to venerate his mother
Scripture say Mary was “blessed among women.” Not over women.
No one in all Scripture “venerates Mary”.
Not Christ, not Apostles, not believers, not in art, music, writing before 100 ad while the Apostles remained on earth.
Made up when paganism came into the church.
—> and pray to the saints,
Ditto. Made up of whole cloth.
—> and undergo the Holy Sacraments (Mass, Confession, etc.)?
Again, scripture teaches no sacramental system that conveys grace.
Believers are told to remember Christ until He returns in the Lord’s Supper.
Believers are commanded to be baptized as a public testimony.
So no, but thank you for asking.

Benedict XVI may very well be the last Catholic Pope until our Lord Jesus comes again.
