The current thinking is that Ray Epps can deny being an FBI informant because he wasn't an FBI informant - he was a DHS informant, which is why he was initially on the FBI's January 6th Most Wanted List, then mysteriously removed.

Epps has not been arrested or charged for his actions on January 6, even though he was pictured in the crowd of rioters and caught on video urging people to storm the Capitol.

Why the hell hasn't he been arrested for this? Epps was far more involved in the violence than most of those who were arrested, some of whom were not even in the building.
