Seriously though, there is no reason for people to be overweight nowadays. Lay off the frikken carbs and start walking (and move on up to running, biking, or rowing, etc., as soon as you're ready).

That's all well and good. Everybody knows all that stuff already and it's not working for the 40% of the country that is obese. Also if you think it's just the U.S. then you haven't been to Europe lately, the U.K. and Germany are danged near as fat as we are. For whatever reason, people aren't able to get the weight off and the obesity is causing all kinds of health problems. You can wag your finger at them and snarl about how they're fat asses or we can apply modern medicine to fix some of the problem which in turn will make their lives better while reducing the enormous associative medical costs of obesity that we spend every year. The only downside is the sanctimonious won't have as many people to look down their noses at.

I'm thin, on Keto, and work out everyday.

I don't care if people want to be lard-asses. It's their business if they are too stupid and lazy to improve their lives. But they can't say it's in their genes and/or there's nothing that works (that's what they used to say).

All that said, there are some things that are still a matter of personal responsibility. Weight/health are one (or two).

As an aside, I have an old girlfriend I speak with regularly. She has always had a problem with her weight. When I mention keto and exercise, she just gets mad. She has health problems due to her weight (she's just pleasingly plump) and even her doctor has suggested keto and exercise.

She spends over $500/month on blood pressure meds and they really don't work, but she refuses to consider alternatives just because...(i.e., no reason, just stubborn).

Ozempic didn’t work for me. I want to sue someone. I want to sue everyone. I want to sue you.
