I’m begining to doubt there exists or will ever exist again, a fiscal conservative. Do we have ‘conservative values’ or small government to run on? lately I see neither. Cheating, lying et al are okay as long as we are “winning” or have enough R’s for a majority, even when they are clearly to the left of issues. What do we offer that Dems don’t? If we can’t distinguish ourselves then voters will vote for “free stuff” and it won’t require cheating.

This happened as a consequence of the pandemic, at a time when it was unclear how the response to Covid was going to go. I agree that it was a mistake, but the economic effects of Covid were huge in the beginning (we're still feeling them).
