In the years since former President George H. W. Bush and his wife Barbara's deaths, a number of books have come out about the couple's lives and political careers. But Rev. Russell Levenson, Jr. believed one large part of the couple's lives was missing: their faith.
Levenson serves as the rector at St. Martin's Episcopal Church in Houston and got to know the couple over more than a decade, as the Bushes regularly attended Sunday services. He has reflected a lot on his relationship with them and decided to chronicle not only their lives and deaths but also what he learned from them in his new book, Witness to Dignity: The Life and Faith of George H.W. and Barbara Bush.
"As their priest, as their pastor...I felt like that was an important story to tell because I saw in them what I felt like was a true and earnest faith that really did shape who they were and shape the way in which they lived their lives," he said.

It wasn’t in their playbook!
GHW CEDED to Clinton.
Fairh that they could get away with killing Kennedy
The question is - faith in what?
The CIA?
The deep-state?
Bloated Progressive government?
Faith in a NWO.
Barbara Bush loved her some abortion, so good luck trying to paint her with religiosity, unless of course, organized religion is totally down the tubes.
If NPR is covering H W in a positive light it is an indication of how much a deep state creature he was. Granted, he was not as bad as Bill and Hildabeast, but NPR would hate him if he were close to Reagan or Trump.
I worked on his original Presidential campaign in 1980. It was only by the grace of God that we got Ronald Reagan instead.
“Faith” was a misspelling. Pretty sure “fake” is what was meant.
Next time please don’t forget the barf alert.
100% correct.
I listen to NPR fairly regularly, to see what state-run central government media is saying and what the deep-state is thinking.
They recently have been particularly unhinged about the Jan. 6 Committee and potential Trump DOJ prosecution. They regularly trot out several of the deepest deep-state hacks, who can only be trusted with the most sensitive political narrative. One in particular is named Mary McCord.
Faith? No, he was there looking for loopholes,
Exactly.
When did he repent of the Skull and Bones Society? I missed that part of his conversion experience. God forgive them, they know not what they do! God help me to fully release and forgive them, too. Articles like these make me surprised we don’t see more lightening strikes.
Assassin. Lovely
I believe that the only faith Bush had any confidence in is the one that teaches that Satan can do a much better job at running the world than that old white racist and His Son. That is why he was so fond of the one world government setup.
Exactly right!!!
Yeah, faith in the Almighty Dollar and his handlers who gave him some.
