It should come as no surprise to Utahns or anyone who identifies as conservative that Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah) did not vote along party lines when it came to the $1.7 trillion spending bill/omnibus package. Well, he did vote along party lines, just not the party with which he is affiliated. Romney took to Twitter to explain his rationale...
If you couldn’t stand a political version of a time-share pitch, let me summarize it for you:
- It would cost less to pass it this year than next.
- Republicans aren’t organized enough to get a speaker together, let alone budgets.
- They need Senate Democrats to pass a budget, anyway.
- Sure, $1.7 trillion sounds like a lot of money, but it only makes up 1/3 of government spending. The other 2/3, which include social security, entitlements Medicare, and Medicaid, are the real culprits when it comes to debt.
- The Electoral Count Act will stop attempts to overturn elections.
- The bill has some good things in it.
- Utah gets some money out of it.

Interesting to read. I suspect these are lies, although not very good ones. The reason Romney voted yes is because he was paid to vote yes. In other words, Romney sold his yes vote.
I’m waiting for the day they declare social security bankrupt and can’t pay out it’s obligations while they still collect the withholding from people’s paychecks and the employers portions. That’s gonna be some sales job bolder than global warming, Covid, and FBI testimony, combined.
“who identifies as conservative” WTF???
it’s even invaded right media now...
i don’t identify as one, i AM one.
Social security was a ponzi scheme from day one—it is just a very long con:
“Utah gets some money out of it.” That’s not quoted in full. He said: “Utah gets some money out of it, and so did I.”
Mittens confirms what we here knew all along. He is a jerk.
Right on!
You can lead a mormon around like a donkey. Just tie a dollar bill to a stick and dangle it in front of them.
WTF does that mean? There was no party line. Eighteen Republicans including the Majority Leader and Majority whip voted FOR the bill.
Big mistake passing the Unified Budget Act. Reagan got hoodwinked on a few. Immigration reform and the unified budget act both. Remember Graham-Ruddman? Where did it get flushed to?
Romney bragged recently that he would win if he ran for Senate again. REAL top tier politicians in compatible states don’t even have to SAY it. Nancy Pelosi NEVER has to say that she would win re-election.
Willard votes for every liberal bill he reads...
and also the ones he doesnt read ...
Who has time to read 4,000+ pages ???
Willard has more important things to do ...
Like malign Conservatives etc ...
G-R-H was the only ever reasonably successful attempt at curbing government excesses.
Romney is a moron.
Romney is a moron.
You can say that again.
No. It was ideological for him.
You can say that again.
