This Sacramento Bee is the largest newspaper in the region, but its editorial views are often at odds with the politics and beliefs of areas outside Sacramento’s urban core. The Bee tends to represent those interests that are urban and deeply liberal in their social and economic policies. Great. That message plays well in the city of Sacramento. And that is why some people in rural parts of California don’t want to live in Sacramento any more than the Editorial Board finds Placer County to be the perfect place to live. Rural California and the people who have moved there have voted with their feet by choosing to live where they do.

My in laws live in Placer County. I call them “gracefully aging hippies”. But even they’re shaking their heads at what’s happened to California.
Trouble is they’re stuck there. Their home is uninsurable due to their location smack in the middle of fire country.

In 2009 I left Sacramento for Placer County. In 2010 I left California for Wyoming.
Last Thursday it was -32F here and no way would I go back to California. I’d rather freeze to death in a land I love than be warm and comfy in a land that hates me.
Well put!
Nick Johnson and his Youtube channel are perfect. He only shows the homeless idiots ruining the country. One of the few channels I actually follow.
Nevada County as well does not care what the crap bee has to say. Neither does kern county
When we first moved to Placer County I was very pleasantly surprised to learn just how right-thinking most people were here. When Welfare-to-Work came along, Placer County completely embraced it, and managed to reduce the welfare rolls to under 1,000.
For an example of Placer County, check out https://thebluestateconservative.com. There are many contributors, and some of them live in Placer County. One such author, last name Towner, writes very well.
Same with El Dorado County (just South of Placer County).
Very conservative. Been here 50 years.
Most of the Bay Area transplants I meet moving here are conservative.
Would move to Placer County in a heartbeat if it seceded from Kalifornia. Of course that is impossible, so I will be moving just across the border to Washoe County, Nevada.
We have pretty good county governance and law enforcement that takes their job seriously. Almost as good as the measures you propose
EXACTLY the same for the Austin UnAmerican Stasi.
My Letters to the Editor at the Waco Tribune often pointed out they were in Waco, writing to an Austin audience, which already has a Commie Propaganda paper.
Similar comments could be made about the other Bee: the Babylon one.
Isn’t Washoe very left leaning these days?
In TODAY’S Army, all that sighing would be of men looking into one another’s eyes.
Only those within 30 miles of the coast (more or less) give a damn about what some big (blue) city rag has to say about anything — up to and including whether or not the sky is blue.
CaCaLand became a one party state years ago. Since they have a super majority they can pass all the tax programs they want. This is a communist state — where all the rest of you are heading.
