At a certain point, all decisions and election chances in politics come down to basic math. No matter how some consultants, pollsters or campaign managers may attempt to complicate the process to justify their fees or salaries paid by a candidate or company, it still comes down to this: Does the math finish on the “plus side” for him or her to run, and does it finish on the plus side for the candidate to win?
My mother used to say, “If you can read, you can cook.” In the arena of political elections, if you can do basic addition and subtraction, you can honestly advise a candidate whether to run. Former President Donald Trump has some of that basic math working against him — but also, for him.
What he and his mercurial ego really will do becomes the political question of the 2024 presidential cycle.
With each passing week, there are reports of more and more Republicans suffering from “Trump fatigue.” Although many still strongly approve of most of Trump’s policies from his four years in the White House, they have grown increasingly tired of his perceived juvenile antics and insults. Worse for Trump, many now blame him for the GOP losing the chance to take control of the Senate — not only in the November midterms, when he forced marginal candidates on the party with his endorsements, but also back in 2021 when he suppressed GOP voter turnout with negative comments and attacks in Georgia’s runoff election.

Ignore the last part of my post. My microphone caught something on the TV.
It would serve the GOPee right to have Trump run as Perot.
First, win the primary.

That would hurt you more than it would the GOPe.
With the number of rino senators who voted to approve the Omnibus bill, there has to be a better choice. The Mc’s who are running the party; McConnell, McCarthy and McDaniel, have spent a tremendous amounts of money with very little return of elected candidates and all should be replaced.
If Trump bails on the GOP, I’m going with him. However, I would much rather destroy the RINOs from within.
It’s clear that many Republican leaders are part of the Swamp. They have no loyalty to me (even though they profess undying devotion to conservative causes when they run for office), so I no longer have any loyalty to them. I want them politically driven from office in shame, but I realize that is likely to never happen given their hold on the party.

And split the republicans to help a democrat get four more years. Yeah, great plan.
This is The Hill not Breitbart. The Hill is a extreme left rag.
And I actually did read past several stop-reading points before I finally did stop reading it.
Before someone posts that (a third party) would ensure a Democrat win, pray tell me how they aren’t already winning with RINO help. Every single time it comes down to an impasse with Dems, our GOP traitors give the left the votes. Every single time.
As much as I want Trump and I will vote for him, I don’t see the deep state cabal “letting” him win. They wouldn’t seat him for his second term that he clearly won, why would they seat him in ‘24? They can’t have Trump and continue to advance Obama’s leftist agenda.
Why?
It would be a catastrophe for Trump to run 3rd party. A guaranteed victory for the left.
I have said it many times. IF “we” (conservatives/populists) cannot control our own political party and defeat the Karl Roves, Paul Ryans, and Romneys we have no hope of winning the much bigger and more difficult battles.
I think many (with good intentions) somehow believe that we will win a victory via 3rd party. It won’t happen. The whole world is against us and we do not even control the RNC.
It’s cute people think a Republican can win the Presidency after Trump..
If they do, they’re the Bush,Cheney, McCain, Romney approved swamp creature..
That’s not better than having a Democrat.
It’s the same thing..
That’s what Trump’s 4 years proved.
And Biden’s installed run proves daily..
The GOP is scum
Just a different letter representing swamp scum
I am not convinced Trump is even going to run and the GOP will see to it he is not the nominee, suspect Willard Romney will be the new nominee...
The GOPee doesn't deserve him as their candidate. They've proven that in spades.
I'm sure it would hurt MAGA too, but no it would hurt the GOPe more.
You're never going to be able to reform the GOP if you keep holding your nose, and voting for the same assholes every election, just to keep the seat Republican.
They want 1912 part deux, with Newsome the Democrat nominee (Liz Cheney VP), Pence the GOP nominee (Nikki Haley VP), and Trump the MAGA nominee (Hu Kairs VP). That would ensure eight more years of socialist destruction, which should be long enough.
