CHICAGO - Mayor Lori Lightfoot says don't get COVID-19 for Christmas.
She says everyone needs to take the virus seriously as people get together this weekend.
Lightfoot says there's been a big surge in cases, and Chicago will reach the "high" level of cases either this week or next week.
She says 47 Illinois counties are already there, and so is New York City and Los Angeles.

I was in the local Northwestern Medicine Primary Care Facility on Monday of this week with a horrible cough and inflammed windpipe. I knew what I had. Bronchitis.
Primary Care Doc insisted on running test for Flu, Covid PCR and RSV. Was told it would be 3 days for the Covid results.
Results came back next day. All three negative. When I asked why I was told the Covid test would take 3 days, the response was "that was the response we gave last year. This year's nowhere near as bad as last year."
The obvious conclusion: masks aren't about public health, they're about power over people's daily lives. Do not comply.
Oh, and yes, Primary Care doc said it's bronchitis, received a steroid pack, and a prescription cough suppressant and I'm fully on the mend, back to 100% operating paramaters.
Just a couple of weeks to flatten the curve, right?!
She can recommend all she wants. And I can ignore her all I want.

Actually, the criminals in Chicago are already wearing masks for crimes so they are in compliance.
When the earliest Covid restrictions hit, Glenn Beck asked Bill O’Reilly if he would comply with wearing a mask.
