Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah), who’s up for reelection in 2024, said in an interview published on Wednesday that “I’m convinced that if I run, I win.”
In the interview with Politico, Romney didn’t say whether he would seek a second term as senator but projected confidence that he would win if decided to do so. “I’ve faced long odds: Getting the nomination in 2012 was a long shot, becoming a Republican governor in one of the most liberal states in America, Massachusetts. … So I’m convinced that if I run, I win. But that’s a decision I’ll make,” the first-term Utah senator told the news outlet.
Romney, a former Massachusetts governor and 2012 GOP presidential nominee, has made a name for himself bucking his own party and becoming one of the Republican Party’s most vocal critics of former President Trump. In each of the two Trump impeachment trials, Romney voted to convict the former president, being the only GOP senator to do so in the first trial and among one of seven GOP senators the second time around. Trump was ultimately acquitted in both trials.

Bannon
If true, what a sad state of affairs.
Is there a decent conservative candidate to primary him?
I know we just love us some DeSantis but he’s backed by scum billionaire Never-Trumpers Paul Singer and Ken Griffin.
Ron pushes our conservative buttons because FL patriots approach him with valid concerns and he repeats those concerns, good on Ron!
But we have to ask Ron:
1. Why have you not come out like Elise Stefanik to express your 100% support for Trump ‘24? Crickets .....
2. Ron, why is the liar media all giddy licking your lollipop? Hmmm? Ron? Ron?
I like Ron ..... as Goobernator of Florduh. Seriously, he’s a good Guv. But there are other confirmed agendas he needs to address. And he ain’t doing it.
Delusional³
Well, it could be that DeSantis, like millions of other Republicans like me, isn't interested in giving Trump "100% support" right now, which is typically what Trump supporters demand for some reason. It may have something to do with Trump's support for vaccines, having huge galas at his club celebrating the new Gay Marriage law, you know, those sorts of things, that cause people to not support someone 100%.
DeSantis but he’s backed by scum billionaire Never-Trumpers Paul Singer and Ken Griffin
All politicians get financial support from billionaires, Trump included. His main piggy bank Sheldon Adelson also gave millions to Mitt Romney, John Boehner, Eric Cantor, and the like. What about Paul Ryan you say? Yep, Adelson met with him many times over the years, and gave Ryan's superpac $30 million in 2016 alone. And I barely even looked.
Hey I'm not trying to start an argument with you, just saying, since you asked, that your request for 100% support for Trump from anyone might just be a bit much right now. And if the other issue you have with DeSantis is donations from those that have supported some other Repubs like Paul Ryan and Mitt Romney in the past, then Trump's own hands aren't so clean in that regard either. Thanks.
As a democrat? This guy has zero self awareness.
I am surprised that I am still surprised by the stupidity of our political and media elites.
With this written, know that this is a more guarded statement than at first glance. This fool will need the full (to overflowing) and unconditional backing of the church leadership to overcome the massive hole that he has dug for himself. He can’t run and expect to win unless he has it. Even with that backing he is not a sure thing at all.
In addition, he will need the full and unconditional backing of the RINO establishment, in part because the church will insist upon having this as a condition of backing Romney.
What’s most likely is that both the RINO establishment and church leaders will balk, in no small part because neither pack is sure they can get him across the finish line.
And so he likely won’t run. His ego is bigger than almost anyone’s in politics, which is saying a lot, and he does not want to go out as a mega-loser.
If he does run, it’s because all the key players are committed to do whatever it takes to put him back in office.
I got kicked off of Free Republic back when Romney was the GOP nominee for president, because I was too supportive of the guy. I am not inclined to attack anyone, and I HATE the Mormon bigotry displayed by too many on this forum. But this guy has devolved into too much of a not funny joke to continue beyond his current term in office.
He’s not talking about running for POTUS, this is about his Senate re-election.
Nope. They will do as they are told.
It is nearly the worst satanic cult ever brought into this world. About as bad as the nazicRATs.
He must have an absolutely miserable personal life if he prefers to spend his time in D.C. going to meetings and Kennedy Center functions. If I had his money I’d have long ago retired to enjoy life and family.
ROTFLOL
He is widely hated. But a precinct captain in Salt Lake County explained it to me.
He has professional signature gatherers who can jam the primaries, and the state gop kneecaps any serious challengers.
Barring a super effort by a challenger, Mitt can stay in until he’s 110.
Bahahahahaha…
Hopefully the voters in Utah have seen through this phony and vote his ass out!
Anybody who rigs an election will win.
I think he missed his life’s calling-—COMEDIAN!!!!!!!!!!
He may run—but he will not win.
In Utah?
> “It may have something to do with Trump’s support for vaccines ......”
Support for vaccines?
I spent decades in medical research, attended medical school, was a lead researcher for many human clinical trials.
Trump doesn’t have my background, and neither does DeSantis.
It takes 5 to 10 years to shake out a new vaccine.
Trump was pressured by pharma and that little government fraud Fauci to shut it all down and launch Operation Warp Speed with the liar media blasting 24-7 how we were all gonna die. And indeed, many of us knew someone who was hospitalized and passed, especially those wrangled up on ventilators.
Trump had no choice, and DeSantis would not have had any choice, but to go along with the government idiots who didn’t know their butts from a hole in the ground. DeSantis indeed went all-in on vaccines (see below), more so than Trump who refused the boosters.
But Trump did something that he’s known to do, he watches and assesses performance, then steps in and makes corrections. He watched Fauci and Birx, and saw they were government teat-suckers left over from Obama and Dumya.
So what did Trump do? He couldn’t by law fire them. But he could sideline them by bringing in competent expertise. He brought in Atlas and Alexander, both outstanding, but who have suffered since the treasonous Coup d’Etat of Trump. They both have been mercilessly treated by liar media and twisted by Pfizzpukes, Murderna, and assorted pieces of sh*t from pharma C-Suites who suck out $$$ from their agents in Congress.
So your argument is weak and based on liar media generated banter, no real facts.
Here are some facts for you, if you can absorb them:
“Early in the pandemic, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis repeatedly praised President Donald Trump for the expedited development and rollout of a coronavirus vaccine. The governor’s office pushed for $480 million in pandemic resources, including media campaigns promoting the shots, according to state budget documents. And DeSantis, a Republican, even lauded the Biden administration for helping to expand access to vaccines.”

December 2022
DeSantis reverses himself on coronavirus vaccines, moves to right of Trump
Good for Ron to reverse, but only after prominent FL doctors and citizens spurred him.
But Trump hasn’t reversed yet, because he has much deeper Intel.
You see, ironic that Trump’s decision to tout the saving of millions by backing vaccines, is not based on vaccines. It was based on more lethal bioweapons coming:
Catastrophic Contagion: Bill Gates, Johns Hopkins, & The WHO Just Simulated Another Pandemic
https://thewashingtonstandard.com/catastrophic-contagion-bill-gates-johns-hopkins-the-who-just-simulated-another-pandemic-video
Just as Event 201 preceded Sars-Cov-2, a rehearsal was just held for a virus a dozen times more lethal.
Trump said in 2020 “I see what’s happening “, but he didn’t divulge the Intel brought to him because the liar media would brand him as following conspiracy theories.
We are in a Biowar.
It’s been proven the Covid virus was developed in Wuhan using Fauci funds, and Trump was informed worse viruses were prepared to follow.
The decision point revolved around what to do?
The logical answer was to muster America’s vaccine production.
“Oh but Mr. President, we now have technology that can develop vaccines at warp speed!”
Yeah, bullsh*t, I would tell him. But I’m just a crank. But pharma pukes really did think and say that, I heard them.
And then there’s this Eugenicist piece of sh*t (21 seconds):

Regardless, Trump needed something to fight what was coming.
And guess what? It ain’t over. Our Marxist Color Revolution is not over.
Newsflash! DeSantis is backtracking on going after vaccine makers for injury, why? The injuries are real. It’s not that Rob has sold out. It’s likely because the evidence gathering phase is going to take a lot longer.
Because you see, once you sue someone and lose, you can’t come back at them later with the same claims.
So Ron is cool, he’s cool, but he makes mistakes. Trump makes mistakes too, of course.
The reason I want Ron to announce his support for Trump ‘24 is to unite us, to stick it to the DC Mafia and their liar news lapdogs.
Here’s the takeaway, “There’s a lot more going on that we don’t know, than we do know.”
Don has our backs and vice-versa.
Ron is being played, and brings a smile to McConnell.
