Senator Chris Murphy (D-CT) said Tuesday on CNN’s “Newsroom” that Republican unwillingness to back the Democrat immigration reform is causing “chaos” at the U.S.-Mexico border.

Anchor Jim Sciutto asked, “Another issue, and you’ve been watching events at the border with this open question as to whether Title 42 expires and when. I know that passing immigration reform in this country on Capitol Hill is just tough. There is a lot of opposition from Republicans, not a lot of political will from many Democrats, but Democrats have had majority in both chambers for two years. I know you need ten votes in the Senate, but do Democrats bear responsibility, some responsibility, for failing to enact reforms that would have helped address the situation at the southern border? I’m not saying all of the problems, but help address them?”

Sorry you came in so late on it. I was born in the 1940’s in central California and there has been a border crisis there since before I was alive.

The movement of illegals for agriculture work was immense and continues to this day with the creation starting in 1962 of the United Farm Workers by Cesar Chavez, Dolores Huerta and Gilbert Padilla, and their support along with the early work with the AFL-CIO (until 2006) and the assistance of the ACLU.

The problems now are just getting ink unlike before. And most of it is negative on the attempt to control it. A lot of that is being fueled by the misunderstanding of asylum as when the illegals are leaving Mexico, they are leaving an asylum country. If they do not file asylum while in Mexico, then it is no longer asylum. If the individual refuses to file asylum in the country he/she is in that provides it, then it is no longer an attempt at asylum...it is immigration. Different set of rules.
