Oregon, Washington state panels approve transition to zero-emission vehicles

State ecology and environmental panels in Oregon and Washington have approved plans to transition vehicles in their states to meet zero emission standards by 2035.

The Oregon Environmental Quality Commission voted on Friday to require all new cars, trucks and SUVs sold in the state to be zero emissions, while the Washington Department of Ecology updated its Clean Vehicles Program to require all new, light-duty vehicles sold in the state to meet zero emissions by that year.

Both states are following California’s lead in moving toward zero-emission vehicles, adopting identical policies. The Clean Air Act allowed California to establish emissions standards that are stricter than national standards.

Other states can adopt stricter policies as long as they are identical to California’s.

A release from the Oregon state government says that the rules build on regulations that have been in place since 2005 to lay the groundwork for automakers to produce zero-emission vehicles, which include full battery electric, plug-in hybrid electric and fuel cell vehicles.

The release states that the action will provide better air quality and enhance all state residents’ health.

Let them commit suicide. But don’t let them export it.

Stupid people. Kalifornians migrated to Oregon and Washington and turned the entire Pacific coast into a trash heap.

We can fix a lot of things, but we can't fix stupid.

In the end, with all E.V. on the road, your govt will with the mandatory internet connectivity of all vehicles, will decide when you can drive and when you can recharge YOUR vehicle. You may own it but you will not have the rights to operate it.

Just about the same time the Toyota CEO points out that the consumer interest in the transition doesn't seem to exist.....

If you were expecting charging stations to support your cross country drive within the next 10 years, you will be disappointed.

I highly recommend this video which really gets into the nitty gritty of the oil reserves in the United states.

You will get high points on your social score, but do something political incorrect and your ESG will plummet and your car rights will be throttled down if not off.

And this sort of thing is why I left my home of 46 years, seattle, for acreage in rural Kentucky 11 years ago.

By far the best decision of my life other than choosing my wife and accepting the lord. It was a big game changer and I love it. I watch all these stories from afar now. And it will stay afar because these states all become canaries in the coal mine for the rest of us.

I have read elsewhere that warnings are going out to car parking garages that the structures may not be able to hold the weight of so many electric vehicles.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11550269/Weight-electric-vehicles-cause-catastrophic-damage-lead-car-parks-collapsing.html

Wonder if that will be the same here.

I want to see these EV snowplows on the mountain passes during blizzard conditions.

OH, here’s a better idea. Put resistance wire in the mountain pass pavement.

Then turn on the windmill and solar panels to melt that snow.

See how easy that was. Make me Gov. I will approve some more really good stuff.

This is a pipe dream. State legislatures can pass all the bills they please but the reality is that among other things, electric vehicles are unaffordable for most people, are incapable of replacing commercial vehicles (trucks, construction vehicles, trains, etc.) and the power grid lacks the capacity / capability to provide power for all the electric vehicles now on the road. It will never come to fruition.

Also, even though it is going unreported by the media and public polling firms, people in California are beginning to realize how this idiocy will impact their lives and ability to move about freely. This new realization of how regulatory insanity does not bode well for Democrats which is part of the reason for their desire to import millions of new citizens from south of the border and give every black person $230k. Got to keep the slaves on the plantation and import new voters to replace the current base that is beginning to move to right.
