KPMG reports automotive executives are less bullish than they were last year about the adoption of electric vehicles. The survey found 76% are concerned that inflation and high interest rates will adversely affect their business next year. For the U.S., the median expectation for EV sales was 35% of the new vehicle market by 2030 — down from 65% a year earlier.

Auto executives are also beginning to realize the realities of supply chain limitations providing the raw materials that go into batteries and electric motors as they plan to scale up production.

As an analogy, it's great when you convert your diesel pickup truck to run on French Fry oil, but it's not sustainable for everybody in town to switch to French Fry oil powered vehicles.

There isn’t nearly enough electrical generation, nor transmission and distribution, to support EVs at those percentages of the vehicle fleet. Nor enough mining to support production of sufficient batteries. And people don’t like the limited range of EVs, nor the limited charging opportunities.

Other than that, there are no obstacles to rapid adoption of electric cars.

The people who needed electric cars to Virtue Signal to their friends now have them. The problem now is that the remaining people, the people without that need, the vast majority of people (including all conservatives), cannot figure out a reason to buy them, at least until forced to do so.

Good!

Maybe some of them finally read the history of automobile evolution where the market decided EV's were, and still are, not practical for most consumers.

Too expensive.
No real range - especially in cold.
Recharging? Prepare to be mugged as the slime figures out that that’s a great time to get you.
Resale value? Feggedabowdit.
We won’t even mention our grid...
Or the devestation being done to the environment for lithium...
But the EV beat goes on.......

There might be an aftermarket for Teslas converted to internal combustion engines. They are a beautiful looking car.

Corporate shareholders are going to have to become far more aggressive in demanding responsible management of corporate assets. Woke upper management and Boards of Directors are not fulfilling their primary obligation to maximize shareholder value. All this virtue signaling by these clowns is very costly to the bottom line which is where their primary focus should be. I believe these same clowns will look to Washington for “assistance” if the get their tails in a crack due to their fecklessness, so they don’t really worry about consequences of their virtue signaling.

Toyota is pushing back. The CEOs of auto companies are beginning to realize it’s all a pipe-dream.

Maybe for some people it is, but not for the auto industry.

The auto industry sees EVs as a way to force people to buy $60,000 EV cars when a $35,000 ICE car would have done just fine.

These warnings you see now from the industry are based on their realization that the $60,000 EV is actually going to cost $80,000 … and they aren’t going to be able to sell enough of them to make the ICE-EV transition worth the massive cost to the auto manufacturers.

“Has anyone actually done the math on electric vehicles?

Theres over 400 million cars in Europe. If all of them were switched to EVs we would need around 40 000gwh of electricity - Every week.

We would need to build around 200 000 new wind turbines to get that much power.”

There is a large fallacy in your premise

Tesla

What are being called legacy manufacturers don’t really matter.

I do not support electric vehicles nor do I have any intention of buying one. I observe and make a finding

The survey found 76% are concerned that inflation and high interest rates will adversely affect their business next year.

These are supposed to be intelligent people.

They either don't understand or choose to ignore that all of the gullible people already have their EVs. New sales will drop dramatically.

And EVs predate internal combustion engines by about 50 years.
