I monitor seismos for a group of citizen scientists and one of the stations I record is Petrolia, just a few miles from the epicenter. I’ll post a link when I render a time lapse video.

Mount Shasta area was highlighted in the OP video from Fox. I wonder if the volcano could blow?

I haven’t seen any harmonics from magma movement anywhere in the area.

Since this is a political board...

just curious:

If all of the part of CA to the right of the fault were to fall into the ocean, would California become a Republican state again?

That’s a political question. We all have friends and loved ones there and don’t wish evil upon anyone.

But this is about politics and a hypothetical.

Thinking along similar lines: about 70-80% of Democrats are occupying our major cities. A limited nuke exchange with Putin taking out a dozen of the Democrat cities (which control entire states now) would completely reshape American politics.

Something like that might be the true “Great Reset” for our country.

There is a subduction zone on the west coast, but I don't think the San Andreas is it. No? In other words, I don't think it's going to 'fall into the sea'.

I was more curious about the politics of the state.

Philly controls the rest of PA. Chicago owns IL.
Atlanta owns GA.

Full Dem control of the city means they control the entire state, so they don’t care about anything but that control.

How do you break the ‘city states’ that now control our national politics?

~~~
Voter ID would be a good start. Heh. If you control the elections in heavily red precincts, you can bring in as many votes as you need to tip the whole state. Ever notice those areas are always the last ones to report?
Sorry, I just went there.
If you dropped everything west of the S.A. fault into the Pacific, there's a really good chance the remaining population would be red.
This is all terrible shadenfreude, but I wonder what would happen to the arid climate in the new state. Would it get more rainfall during the wet season? /lexluthor
“If all of the part of CA to the right of the fault were to fall into the ocean, would California become a Republican state again?”
There were close to 500,000 Northern Californians on the Golden Gate Bridge during its 50 anniversary celebration 35 years ago. One of the engineers who worked on the bridge, saw its deck flatten, something that should never happen, and they quickly cleared everyone off.
...one has to wonder, could California had held out longer against the Left, if...
Considering that the Left seems to want that war, badly, it would serve them right, although millions of innocent people would get caught in it too.
All the big cities are owned by Democrats. They flip the entire state.
But, no, Putin would be insane to launch nukes. But knock out the, say, top cities in America and do the political calculation of the results.
That was the mental exercise.
Petrolia is a bellweather location for activity on the north San Andreas. I watch it too because a big quake there usually results if a good sized one down here by the Salton Sea within a few days.
