MIAMI — President Trump told the conservatives currently withholding support from House leader Kevin McCarthy to stand down in an exclusive interview with Breitbart News.
“I like him,” Trump said of McCarthy, before teeing off on those working against him including Matt Gaetz, Andy Biggs, Matt Rosendale, Bob Good, and Ralph Norman. Trump warned that there could be serious consequences if McCarthy does not get the gavel and it would make Washington worse for conservatives.
“I think it’s a very dangerous game that’s being played,” Trump said. “It’s a very dangerous game. Some bad things could happen. Look, we had Boehner and he was a strange person but we ended up with Paul Ryan who was ten times worse. Paul Ryan was an incompetent speaker. I think he goes down as the worst speaker in history. We took out Boehner—and a group of people, some of whom are the same, and they’re very good friends of mine. All those people are very good friends of mine.”
Trying Reverse Psychology.
So the mainstream news figures: If Trump is for it, we should be against it.
I’ll just wait and see.
Very disappointing. It’s the same situation where people say Trump doesn’t hire the right people. He’s got a blind spot for people he likes or something.
Kevin McCarthy is not only a wimp, he’s a Democrat. Wants power for the prestige, not to do good for us or our country.
Trump quote from this posting: “ We took out Boehner—and a group of people, some of whom are the same, and they’re very good friends of mine. “
What does this sentence mean?
Soon someone will tell us that this is a fourth dimension cosmic chess move that we will understand in due time…..
Perhaps he thinks his endorsement is enough to tank it for McCarthy. Consider the lefts response to anything Trump wants and supports. Now consider all the folks here and elsewhere who turned on Trump and anything he wants/supports.
They’re all like, should I support McCarthy or not?
Oops! Somebody already did….
I just did. Right below your post.
Yeah, he's (Trump's), the one who has to deal with whatever this guy does, so if he's ok with him, I'm ok with him too.
Yep. Soon all will be revealed!
Kinda seems like the old Trump, though. He loved Ryan too before he hated him.
Otherwise you don’t matter here.

Oh, did you assume ownership of Free Republic?
Sorry Mr Trump, but I must disagree.
The Freedom Caucus, friends of Trump, were against Boehner.
This kind of stupidity is why Trump got absolutely nowhere in his quest for justice of those who illegally targeted him. It also why there was no one around to go after the election fraud.
DeSantis is starting to look better and better.
I’m 100% not backing McCarthy.
Don’t care what Trump and Mark Levin say.
The HFC saved us from TrumpRyanCare.
Gov Ron DeSavage was a founding member of HFC.
“...we had Boehner and he was a strange person but we ended up with Paul Ryan who was ten times worse”
Us tea party people would beg to differ, he was the scum of the Earth for those years and the father of the modern-day GOPe of which Lyin’ Ryan just simply piled on.
“Oh, did you assume ownership of Free Republic?”
Nope, but I think I wasn’t clear. I was trying to say that Trump doesn’t matter regarding the vote for Speaker - Trump certainly matters here, and to me for that matter (and yes, I still support him, and have always supported him, from Day 1).
This guarantees that McCarthy will lose.
