A former Russian commander and prominent military blogger has given another scathing assessment of Moscow's invasion of Ukraine in which he described how Vladimir Putin's troops had already been dealt a "strategic defeat" by Ukraine.
Igor Girkin, also known as Igor Strelkov, is an army veteran and former intelligence officer who played a key role in Russia's annexation of Crimea in 2014 and the conflict in Ukraine's eastern Donbas region.
He is among a number of milbloggers who give candid accounts of Russia's war effort that are far removed from the picture portrayed by Kremlin-backed television channels.
On his Telegram channel he has pulled no punches in his criticism of Russia's military failures in Ukraine, earlier this month describing how Moscow's forces do not have "the slightest idea about the ultimate strategic goals of the current military campaign."
He resumed this theme in a video posted on Friday in which he said the "sluggish" war in Ukraine was playing into the hands of Ukraine's western allies, "primarily the United States."
He said that the "prolonged internal meatgrinder within Russia which is now being called the Russian-Ukrainian war", could result in the "collapse of the political regime and the state of the Russian Federation."
He then outlined what he think needed to happen for Russia to gain the ascendancy and carry out "offensive strategic operations of a decisive nature."

- Zaluzhny complains about HIMARS’ limited range; - Zaluzhny demands arms deliveries on a scale the US and NATO are incapable of;
U.S. v. Russia, who’s winning?
-fJRoberts-
And exactly why is that??????
Jut cause I shot how rude of you to bleed all over the place
The biggest loser is the US taxpayer. Borrowing $100 billion and counting to fund this proxy war is a disaster.
No, of course its not the russian military that have been shown to be utterly inept.
At some point in the next weeks or months the West will be forced to concede that it cannot continue pouring billions into Ukraine without inflicting enormous damage on its own economies and people. At that point the memes of Russian weakness and defeat will crumble. NATO faces the real risk of being demilitarized. But it will not be the result of a frontal assault by Russia. Russia will continue doing what it is doing — i.e., pulverizing Western wonder weapons and bleeding the Ukrainian and foreign mercenaries with artillery and missiles.
That would explain all the candles in Ukraine ... candle light victory parades.
Winners figure out how to win and then go to war.
Losers go to war and then try to win.
Russians went to war having forgotten about Ukrainian mud and winters....
... it has only been a few decades, people.....
Ukraine doesn’t have to win. They just have to stop Russia from winning.
Given that Russia’s seven day war is in its tenth month it’s safe to say Russia isn’t winning.
Russia docked a sub next to the Moskva? That’s nice of them to get their fleet back together!
‘’Sod off’’ works as well.
Where we Americans say “Get out of here’’ the Brits typically say “Get out of it’’.
He is the one person the Putin fan club should listen. Instead they ignore him while fawning over Z-Telegram channels, Scott Ritter and Douglas Macgregor who make it up as they go. SMH/CMTU.
Ukraine won, past tense, in March 2022 when it thwarted Putin’s attempt to make uka vassal state like Belarus.
The Ukrainians destroyed the elite Russian paratroopers VDV, and crushed the Russian tank pile up that came to occupy Kyiv.
Is Ukraine badly damaged, yes? But it is like a girl attacked and assaulted by the neighbourhood bully, but she still manages to not only fight him off to not become his kidnapped sex slave, but blinds his eye and cuts off one hand.
Putin’s regime is the neighbourhood bully rapist and Ukraine has fought him off. The fight is still on, but the bully will never have that dominance over the neighbourhood again
You, like me and all the rest have no idea what the future brings. I have learned pariicipating in a war, ours thoughts and wants are most always not in line with God’s will. Stay tuned, much to early to determine an outcome.
What I do see, is Biblical- Evil is destroying Evil.
