That’s quite a piece of history!
Powerful imagery
Thank you..
To me it has all the earmarks of a classic Mafia “double Hit”. I think officer Tippit was to kill Oswald—but Oswald got wise and shot him first. Jack Ruby was a fall back plan to fix the problem—all on live TV. Ruby knew if he didn’t do it his family would be targeted—so he did the deed (with police help). He knew he had cancer and was going to die. Maybe he, in some sick way, saved the nation.
Let’s not overlook that PDJT didn’t release all the Kennedy assassination files.
“Just as James Earl Ray was the FBI’s patsy for killing Dr. King.”
Jessie Jackson had more to gain than the FBI.
LBJ miscalculated, evidence (that Johnson didn't have access to) shows now that JFK was never going to withdraw from SE Asia, so they had to clean up the crime scene by then dumping LBJ and letting Nixon get us out.
Extra-special-crazy-factoid: Bob Schieffer drove Marguerite to see Lee Harvey in the hospital morgue.
But US forces were involved. For three hours plus before the invasion U.S. 1 was closed to southbound traffic - a massive armored equipment flow through Miami. I lived there on SW 22nd Avenue and the highway, was awakened, had Cuban friends who were part of the landing, witnessed armored equipment from as far away as Fort Benning.. None of the promised air cover was sent from Homestead AFB and Pensacola Naval Air. Zip, nada. We screwed those brave Cubans, set them up and that, IMHO, was as bad a blemish on American history as the recent Afghanistan fiasco.
BEST BOOK EVER
Why did he miss an easy shot? (pg. 692)—“the double window through which the bullet was fired had a wooden frame running horizontally in the middle of it. The police saw that the bullet had struck the upper portion of the window frame near the center of the locking mechanism… thus deflecting the bullet”
Also: Walker realized later (in considering how LHO missed) that the glare of the light in the room would have blurred the window sash. This is especially true in using a telescope, the sash would not have been visible to the shooter.
Ballistics – Robert Frazier, FBI ballistics export examined both the slug found at the Walker house and those taken from the rifle used by LHO. His testimony (694) was not definitive due to the poor shape of the Walker slug. He did say the rifling marks were identical to those of a Manicher-Carcano rifle (“Four lands and grooves with a right twist”). He could not definitively say it came from the same gun.
Marina Oswald statement -- Marina described the day of the event and days after. LHO told her he did it. She also found a notebook with maps, bus schedules, drawings and photographs of Walker’s house. LHO was going to keep it. She told him to burn it, which he did (pg. 693-694).
Who fired the round that went through Kennedy’s neck, came out and hit Connely in the wrist/leg( the magic bullet)?
Oswald, unless the book I referenced is correct, then it was the hit man
great post
In Dallas itself a man whooped and tossed his expensive Stetson in the air”
That would be LBJ
I think everybody who was around in the Sixties or Seventies heard the story of the school where the principal announced over the public address system that Kennedy had been shot and the students cheered.
After all the wild stuff I hear on the internet, I wonder if the story was true. I do remember somebody cheering when they announced that Reagan was shot, but she was an idiot.
In the South Kennedy’s approval fell from 60% to 44% after a civil rights speech. But nationwide Kennedy did have the highest approval rating of any president since polling became a regular thing after WWII.
The problem with the conspiracy theories is that they assume that Kennedy was a “good guy” who was going to turn on the Deep State. He was pretty much Deep State himself, though a lot of people don’t want to believe that.
Anecdotal, but where I lived in Mississippi, many folks there didn’t like Kennedy one bit.............
No, US Forces jammed the area during Cuban Missile Crisis, not for Bay of Pigs. And besides, it’s well documented that before Bay of Pigs, JFK told Dulles and the Joint Chiefs point blank that they would not get US military involvement.
CIA said they could do it with their own force.
They knew that was a lie and cynically thought they could put JFK into a position where he had to do it their way.
He stood up to them exactly as he said he would. They tried to roll him.
I’ve never read that Appointment in Dallas book. I’ll check that out. Thanks!
“Maybe, just maybe, JFK needed to be shot? Perhaps?”
So you are in the camp that the President serves at the pleasure and judgement of the FBI. Who gets to decide president needs to be murdered? The CIA? the FBI? The Joint Chiefs?
