Less than 1 in 5 Americans in a new poll said they believe GOP control of the House next Congress will change Washington for the better.
Eighteen percent of respondents in a Monmouth University Poll released on Wednesday said that Republicans — who are set to take control of the House next month after securing a majority in November’s midterm elections — will produce a positive change in the lower chamber.
Another 21 percent said they expect Washington to change for the worse under Republican leadership in the House, and about half — 51 percent — said they don’t expect the change of party control to make much of a difference, the poll found.
“Some pundits look at these election results and claim that Americans want divided control,” Patrick Murray, the director of the Monmouth University Polling Institute, said in a press release. “I think these frequent leadership changes are more a matter of chronic dissatisfaction with Washington.”

Count me in the 82%
When the GOP runs things it usually bend-over for the democrats or has a share power insanity fit
The brave 18%, they have their eyes open and see the ruling class for what they are.
A tidal wave followed by a river of lava, then a hurricane and finally a plague of locusts couldn’t make DC better.
I would throw in an asteroid impact and an earthquake too.
> Count me in the 82% <
Me too.
Republicans when in power: Let’s reach across the aisle, and get things done.
Democrats when in power: Let’s crush the opposition every way possible.
It’s not hard to see which party will eventually go extinct.
It has been my observation that as official lawlessness increased in DC so too did the perceived need for monuments national glory.
“Team Mitch” “Ahy will make sure that we reacccccch acroxxxx the aissssle..” Kevin will comply.
They are right,,
Typical Hill BS. The headline is misleading of course. The question was would GOP Control of the House make things better the headline says GOP control of the Government. Two very different things.
Fact is that, when republicans get control of congress and of the White House, they slow the steady march towards socialism, but, socialism still advances. No matter who controls government, there is an unrelenting march towards socialism, whether slow or more quickly.
Republicans need to promise to reverse big government, and it starts with not supporting any new government programs and with the reversal of existing government programs. There have been very few small government republicans in the recent past.
Who cares about DC?
We want the rest of the Country to be improved, if not made great again.
Ask how many liked, “Drain the Swamp!”
Cowards.
GOP is useless…
The only way is to get rid of all departments and send money back to the states…
Get rid of all federal regulations…
Well, the GOP doesn’t control Washington — only the House.
Does anyone here on FR trust McCarthy?
How could it?
Because the GOPe-dopes, act little better than the rats, and too many of them work with the rats over the best interest of the American public.
I am not in that 18 percent. The vast majority of Republicans, politicians and voters, have no idea what needs to be done or lack all desire to fight to get the job done. They are not unified. They are pussies.
Since repubs actively sabotage maga type candidates, nothing will change. Same ol’same ol’, just more dems with (R) after their names
