Moscow police should hand over control of Idaho murder investigation: former FBI agent

The Moscow Police Department should relinquish control of the University of Idaho murders investigation, a former FBI agent has told The Post — as the one month anniversary of the slaying passes with the killer still at-large.

“I think the Moscow Police Department is in over its head. I think they’re drowning,” Pete Yachmetz, a security consultant and former FBI agent, told The Post. “They don’t have the resources to properly address this type of crime.”

The tiny police department, which has around 60 staff and in 2019 boasted just 37 sworn-in police officers is still leading the investigation, but has failed to produce a suspect, release a profile of the killer or give more than basic information about the case, attracting criticism from some victim’s families.

The force’s six detectives are being backed up by 46 FBI investigators, 13 Idaho State Police investigators and 15 of its uniformed staff.

“I think it might be time for them to relinquish the lead agency designation,” Yachmetz said. “The lead agency is the one who makes all the determinations for how the investigation progresses.

“Of course, coming from my background I think the Bureau might have better resources to address it,” the former FBI agent said.

“Moscow police should hand over control of Idaho murder investigation: former FBI agent”

Agree with you also - bad idea. This kind of article tells me that there’s some type of federal connection to the killing, and so the feds need to get control of the case.

I’m assuming that if they need help, then the State Police would be the next in line. Not sure why the alphabet should be involved-is it because it’s Moscow??? /s

“ The force’s six detectives are being backed up by 46 FBI investigators, 13 Idaho State Police investigators and 15 of its uniformed staff.”
************************************************************************

So how, pray tell, are those six detectives hindering the activities of the “46 FBI investigators”. Aren’t they free to develop and follow leads? Or is there some narrative the FBI wants to develop?

The FBI must have found a conservative they can frame.

Yeah because the fbi is so trustworthy right? So, no ‘bipoc’ victims, no gay night club glbtqrpxyz (two of the girls ‘may’ have been friendly) aspect, no AR-15/firearm involved, flyover country...... Doesn’t meet many of the parameters required for more than passing interest in the lame stream media.

The Idaho State police and the FBI have been directly involved in this investigation from the very beginning. The Moscow police department has four employees. They are NOT conducting the investigation. They are only there to talk to the press.

This event may go down as unsolved. There are lots of those unsolved cases floating around.

Pete Yachmetz, a security consultant and former FBI agent, yea right. Thankfully “his” opinion now carries so much more weight than the Moscow Police Officers directly working the case. /S/

This Putz’s claim to fame FROM ORLANDO by the way is that he is also a “Breaking news media contributor” WTF is that????

Hmmm investigators must have found a link to the feds and they need to cover it up.

Maybe they’re actually trying to solve the case...which would expose the FIB!
