Forget Rep. Kevin McCarthy, find another House speaker

Look at the recent midterms. Yes, Republicans managed to squeak across the line and take the majority. And yes, Mr. McCarthy did raise a lot of money and distribute it to many needy candidates.

Still, it took more than a week after the election for 218 seats to be declared to be in Republican hands. Now Mr. McCarthy has the barest of majorities, a flank absolutely opposed to him and a track record that screams: “Find another candidate!”

Democrats are crowing that the overturning of Roe v. Wade gave them a chance to hang on in this election. Others say Republicans never made the case for what they would do differently about the very real problems they did campaign about — inflation, crime, immigration and energy policy. Still others say Republicans were just too extreme.

From the number of stories like this I'm seeing, I'm getting the feeling that McCarthy is losing support.

He should step aside and let the caucus coalesce around SOMEBODY ELSE.

But he won't.

Republicans never made the case for what they would do differently about the very real problems they did campaign about — inflation, crime, immigration and energy policy.

True and their Contract with America light was only talked about for a day or two. The GOP does not have a team, they have individual players because their brand is so flat due to the party leadership such as McCarthy and McConnell who seem comfortable with their "We are Assistant Democrats" as their messaging.

We do not want another RINOmney. How many ball-less men do we have to accept as Republicans? While we’re at, remove McButthole from his position as minority Senate leader.

There is nobody else waiting in the wings. And even if there was, whatever real difference would be piffling and hair splitting. A few of these rebels have their own issues, e.g. Andy Biggs.

Andrew McCarthy isn’t a Mitch McConnel or John Boehner. On Jan 3rd he plans to hit the ground running with real oversight, and multiple investigations, of the Biden crime family and the corrupt FBI. These malcontents need to fall in line.

With help from the RHINO caucus, AOC could end up being our next Speaker, just to teach those pesky Conservatives a lesson.

He's not Pelosi. Pelosi is tough as nails. McCarthy is a Country Club Republican. He's in it for the perks.

You have got to be kidding right? McCarthy ‘s number one goal is to read the pledge of allegiance or some similar sophistry of showmanship devoid of actual substance.

That’s OK. However, I DO like former U.S. attorney Andrew McCarthy!

He should step aside and let the caucus coalesce around SOMEBODY ELSE.

The problem is, SOMEBODY ELSE isn't on the ballot. They need to vote for a specific person and that person will be a House member.

They'll also have to get all of the moderate Republican votes as well as the Freedom Caucus.

It's easy to say you want a real conservative who can win the election but it's a lot harder to name that person.
